That’s Not Science It’s Religion

Earth’s two most important Endowments are Water [H2O] and Carbon Dioxide [CO2] – Add light, we get Oxygen [O2]

Despite being an investor in renewable energy technologies, materials and systems and therefore a beneficiary of the Glasgow COP26 Charade, I was horrified at the blatant hypocrisy on show.

This event wasn’t a case of some “Helen of Troy” launching a thousand ships, but one of collective human insanity launching 25,000 virtue-signalling illuminati with their 400+ private jets, emitting some 13,000+ tonnes of CO₂.

This was both a triumph for the environment (after all, trees and plants love more CO₂) and for the display of “The Madness of Crowds”. The item that was not on anyone’s agenda, was how science disproves their delusional theory.

The religion of “Anthropogenic global warming theory” has also required us to disregard two valid laws of physics:

• The Beer- Lambert law, which is the reason why the thermal influence of atmospheric CO₂ was already saturated well before the pre-industrial level occurred (when it was estimated to have been 280ppm).
• The Henry law solubility constant, which explains why the principle emitter of CO₂ is our warming ocean, which contains 50 times the level of atmospheric CO₂ (and not human influenced emissions at all).

Everyone should be in awe of the power of the Earth’s water cycle:

• 71% of Earth’s surface is covered by water. (yet the same H₂O can be in a liquid, solid, or gaseous phase).
• The ocean traps, and currents move heat around. Its depths are warmed by volcanic vents and eruptions.
• In our atmosphere, water vapour comprises 96% of all of the Earth’s greenhouse gases.
• Water vapour moves rapidly from place to place, always defining the local climate by its usual density.
• Each water vapour molecule has five times the radiative efficacy of CO₂ for incoming sunlight.  Each is 40% lighter than air so it rises quickly in the air column. (efficacy evidenced by atomic absorption spectroscopy)
• And each water vapour molecule has ten to twelve times the radiative efficacy of CO₂ for outgoing radiant heat. (evidenced also by atomic absorption spectroscopy)
• Minute cloud droplets form the opaque clouds which cover and shade 65-70% of Earth’s surface.
• Unlike the radiative capability of CO₂ and methane, water vapour has 28 non-radiative properties as well as dominating the radiative potency of all greenhouse gases.  All H₂O phase changes also have a climate effect.
• As it is the pivotal stage of Earth’s water cycle, water vapour is the sole omnipotent greenhouse gas.
• Water vapour and clouds vary hugely from place to place and from time to time.

Because the climate is only the average of the weather over 30+ years, we can see the truth if we look hard enough:

• The sun supplies 99.9% of Earth’s energy budget.  It is visible from dawn to dusk.
• Each day about 1.15 trillion tonnes of water evaporates and moves to high altitude, providing a convective transfer of surface heat as well as water vapour to high altitude.  How else did the visible clouds get there?
• Each day about 1.15 trillion tonnes of visible rain, hail, sleet and snow falls back to Earth.
• Leaving suspended within Earth’s Troposphere 15 to 20 trillion tonnes as water vapour and cloud and this is visible from the International Space Station as a bright blue layer around the horizon. Earth’s greenhouse layer.  The other 4% of Earth’s greenhouse gases have only a small “radiative” role to play but don’t vary by enough from place to place or from time to time to have any perceptible weather or climate effect.
• Methane emissions are oxidized within 12 days, leaving only 1.8ppm of that extremely weak gas in the air.

Our Prime Minister may be disappointed to learn that New Zealand is to climate science what the Galapagos Islands are to Charles Darwin’s “Origin of Species”, except that daily New Zealand weather statistics comprehensively prove that water vapour really is the sole omnipotent greenhouse gas.

Our Minister for Climate Change may also be disappointed to learn that CO₂ is a gas that is essential for all life on Earth and not a pollutant (and without at least 180ppm of it, we and all complex life on Earth would likely perish). I believe that a case can be made as a result of the foregoing, that the NZ Government’s efforts to reduce atmospheric CO₂ fall somewhere between “malicious nuisance” and “criminal insanity”.
