Richard Prebble’s Covid exposé “Richard Prebble: What the Government did not want you to know about its Covid response” was very revealing. It was surprising that an article on the Government’s response to the Covid crisis was actually printed by the NZ Herald.
I applaud the NZ Herald for publishing the article because Richard Prebble exposes the hopeless bunch of incompetent individuals who are running the country. These idiots would be the most useless clowns to form a government in the history of this country. If they were in a brewery they’d be hard-pressed to find a beer.
Richard asks what did the Government not want us to know. Despite the Government receiving a report on September 28, Chris Hipkins did not release it until the Friday before Christmas. Ardern’s government of transparency at its finest. The report notes our Covid testing plan was written by a veterinary epidemiologist. Now being of the age where my wallet is entitled to carry a Gold Card I freely admit my memory may not be of the same standard. However nowhere do I recall cats, dogs or other animals were at risk of catching the virus, certainly not at a higher risk than Homo sapiens.
The report is called the “Report of the Advisory Committee to oversee the implementation of the New Zealand Covid-19 Surveillance Plan and Testing Strategy.” Two words would have sufficed – Covid Cockups.
The report has revealed a litany of errors caused by the incompetence of a government that clearly had no idea how to handle such a situation.
As Richard points out if the report was released when it was received Labour would never have run a Covid election.
It found that testing “wasn’t fit for purpose” and the country needs a “more effective, coordinated and aligned approach” to “safeguarding our borders.”
There is “poor communication between and within the Ministry of Health” and government agencies the Committee spoke to without exception expressed concern at their inability to be heard by the Ministry of Health. “The Ministry of Health were seen as operating without full regard for the impact of and or understanding of the operationalistion impacts of their decisions.” “Health sector providers expressed frustration at receiving last minute instructions for changes which they believed did not recognise much of what was happening on the ground.”
So what this report shows is that Tweedledum and Tweedledee doing their standup comedy routine at one o’clock each day are both as useless as each other. It’s obvious they had no idea what was going on. The report states “ It is clear to the Committee that reports of progress on issues did not always reflect what was happening on the ground” How about four words – We were lied to.
The report goes on – “The Ministry of Health is not well informed on details of how the economy or the social sector operates.” It is clear to me the Ministry of Health is as shambolic as the Government and Dum and Dee, far from being heroes, should both be relieved of the positions they hold.
Some of us with more intelligence than the aforementioned knew what is in this report to be the case all along. As Richard says, Jacinda Ardern promised her government’s “first priority” is “transparency”. Never have we received better PR and less transparency. My own view is we’ve been continually lied to and, if the election is an indicator, many people fell for the subterfuge and spin. I suggest those people need to wake up to the reality of who and what Ardern and her government stand for. Thanks to the many who failed to see what was going on we are now in for another three years of deceit and bluster.
