Watching TV One news last Friday night was like viewing a Labour Party political broadcast. The coverage of the Boag Walker episode was laughable at best and hopelessly biased at worst. You’d be excused for thinking you were watching CNN and Muller was Trump. It was so bad it was sounding like a payback for the Government bailout monies.

It appears that in covering this story the journalists are unaware they’re making themselves look stupid. They’re reporting it in such a way that, in their fervent desire to get at National, they are trying to call them out both for releasing and not releasing the Covid material. This is a very poor standard of journalism.

The media were quite right to call Boag and Walker out for their disgraceful behaviour in releasing the details meant for the Helicopter Trust. This deserved the full media scrutiny it got. Boag dropped Muller in the you know what and he was left to sort out the mess. Muller is still finding his feet with the left wing media and Boag at least should have known better than to foist a debacle of this nature upon him.

TV One journalists couldn’t help themselves on finding out Michael Woodhouse was also in receipt of emails from Boag. Muller, having been asked about this the day before, seemed unaware of it but now the media spin is that he could be lying. If lying is the point in question it might pay to look in another direction. It beggars belief what someone else gets away with.

The story has progressed to the point where Boag and Walker are deservedly vilified for leaking the information and now Woodhouse is vilified for sitting on it. He, in fact, deleted it. The point is you can’t have it both ways. TV One is so gleefully trying to stick it to National they have tripped over themselves. In doing so they have shown a bias which has become a trademark of their poor level of journalism.

If that wasn’t bad enough, we had to put up with the irritating Jack Tame who every few minutes reminded us that black language matters. This PC leftie needs to realise there is a Maori language channel, two in fact, and if we wish to listen to a language we don’t understand we’ll go there. We don’t need it shoved in our ears during what purportedly passes for a news hour.

TV One News needs to up its game. Professional journalism is about reporting the facts and not lacing them with comments that reflect political bias.
