Satire

This is a case for Hercule Poirot. It’s a matter of who said what and when did they say it. I may even be implicated.

Apparently there has been whisky leaking from barrels outside Missie Ardern’s  Saloon.

I said I did not know if it was “deliberate or accidental.”

Cowboy Nash said there were several sets of fingerprints all over it. As it turned out he was right.

Firstly it was the Bonnie and Clyde outfit. Cowgirl Boag (Bonnie) and my Marshal from Clutha (Clyde)

Who started it off.

Bonnie (Boag) sent by telegraph a list of suspects to my Marshal from Clyde.(Clutha)

This just reminds me of a poem. “There was a young man from Clyde who went down a slide” You know the rest.

But I digress. My Marshal from Clyde then passed on the list of names to those he shouldn’t have as only Missie Ardern and Hopalong Cassidy (Hipkins) were allowed to see the list as they were running the saloon. Fair enough. I blame Bonnie as she had been involved in numerous nefarious goings-on before she met up with young Clyde.

Bonnie said she had not given the list of suspects to anyone else. This turned out not to be true. This is where I became involved as I was asked by a reporter from the Rocky Mountain Times if anyone else had the list of suspects. I replied that the Bonnie and Clyde situation had been sorted.

But it’s like that woman in advertising who says “wait there is more”. And there was.

Marshall Woodhouse looking as “sick as a parrot” fessed up and said he had received a list of suspects from Bonnie two weeks before.

This put the “cat among the pigeons” because he had previously said the “leak” was “unconscionable and unacceptable.” Basically repeating like a parrot what Hopalong Cassidy had said about the leak but leaving out the word totally. In other words he knew all about the “leak” before it happened. This is going from bad to worser.

Both Missie Ardern’s cowhands and mine are speaking the same lingo. It’s hard to tell the difference sometimes. I chimed in with “shabby” moving on from the word “shambolic” which had been a favourite of mine to describe Missie Ardern’s running of the Saloon.

I though Sweetie had shut up shop but she came up with the word “deplorable” to describe the leak. I wonder if she borrowed the word from Hilary as she had a basket of them.

Sweetie should know all about leaks as she was the instigator of many of them.

Sweetie should keep going West.

What’s wrong with two weeks free board at Missie Ardern’s Saloon?  Are they using the old trick of cutting the whisky with gun-powder? Inmates are going elsewhere to get their liquor but Cowgirl Megan Fixit is there to fix it.

These Buckaroos should remember when they are saying their prayers under the stars at night that “ God hates lyin’. “

Drink Up. There’s whisky in the jar cowhands.
