Get ready for another round of pearl-clutching about “Islamophobia” and “backlash”. In fact, it’s already begun — but it’s only going to get louder.
Because it is, as we are all-too grimly familiar with, the default reaction of the media, politicians, and chattering classes, whenever the followers of the Prophet run amok (again).
And, boy, has it been a week for Muslims running amok.
It all started, of course, with the single most deadly progrom in modern times, the worst massacre of Jews since 1945.
How did the left-elite react? By declaring their allegiance to the Jew-killers, and proudly marching with slavering Muslim anti-Semites chanting “Gas the Jews” and brandishing swastikas in major Western cities. Rather than simply condemn violently real anti-Semitism, the Australian Greens leader gibbered about so-called “Islamophobia”.
Which is about as rational as wringing your hands over “Naziphobia” in 1945, and urging the Allied armies to stop their march on Berlin, in case “innocent civilians” got harmed.
Following the murderous spree in Israel, former Hamas leader Khaled Mashal called for an “Global Day of Jihad” last Friday (because there’s no better way to observe Islam’s holy day than by killing infidels, apparently). At least one person was murdered by a Jihadi in France.
And the killings keep coming.
Belgian police early Tuesday hunted for a gunman with suspected extremist motives who killed two Swedes with stunning viciousness before disappearing into the night. He created such fear that authorities shut down a Belgium-Sweden soccer match and held 35,000 fans inside for several hours as a precaution.
Eric Van Duyse, spokesman for the federal prosecutor’s office, said the investigation was centering on “a possible terrorist motivation for the shooting” after “a claim of responsibility was posted on social media.”
“Suspected extremist motives”? “Possible terrorist motivation”? Clearly, one of the white supremacists Kate Hannah keeps warning about. Was the suspect wearing braided blond hair and lugging healthy food?
Well, no, it seems.
“This person claims to be inspired by Islamic State,” Van Duyse said. “The Swedish nationality of the victims was put forward as the probable motive.” Sweden raised its terror alert to the second-highest level in August after a series of public Quran-burnings by an Iraqi refugee living in Sweden resulted in threats from Islamic militant groups.
“At this time, no element indicates a possible link with the Israeli-Palestinian situation,” Van Duyse said, offering scant relief on a continent where many nations have increased their vigilance for fear of attacks linked to the Israel-Hamas war.

Well, I mean, who can keep track of what Muslims are being “offended” by, this week?
And, as we too often see, when Muslims get offended, mayhem follows.
Federal prosecutors say a terrorism inquiry has been opened over the shooting on Boulevard d’Ypres, 5km (3 miles) from the King Baudoin Stadium.
A spokesman for the prosecutor, Eric van Duyse, urged the public to “go home and stay at home as long as the threat has not been eradicated”.
He said a man claiming to be the attacker had said in a video on social media he had been inspired by the Islamic State group.
A video shows an Arabic-speaking man saying he carried out the attack in the name of God and that he killed three people.

Right before they go on to shriek and faint and fret about an “Islamophobic backlash”.
