At what point should politicians be held accountable for the consequences of their decisions, beyond merely being turfed out of office? When should activists be prosecuted, as well, when the policies they stridently demand lead, not just to political mayhem, but the murder and rape of the innocent?

It’s common enough to hear the left demand war crimes charges against George W. Bush and Tony Blair. They’re not so vocal, though, when their own policies lead to death and mayhem.

“Defund the police”, for instance. In the wake of the adoption of such policies in many American cities, crime has skyrocketed. But, beyond such societal degeneration, the political decisions of the left have led directly to the shocking deaths of innocents.

A man that was released early from an Oregon state prison is a suspected serial killer in the greater Portland metro area, authorities say.

Jesse Lee Calhoun, 38, of Portland, Oregon has allegedly been linked by detectives to four of six women found dead earlier this year in the Portland metro area, according to Willamette Week.

What does this have to do with leftist policy?

Calhoun was released from prison in 2021, twelve months early, after being granted clemency at the direction of former Democrat Gov. Kate Brown. Brown began to issue mass commutations during the Covid-19 pandemic, which included early release to prisoners that were either considered to be well-behaved, were nearing the end of their sentences, and were vulnerable to the virus, the outlet reports.

Calhoun, who has been described by law enforcement as a “prolific thief and career criminal,” was one of the more than 1000 prisoners that had been granted early release under Brown’s criminal justice reform policies.

At least six young women have paid the worst possible price for Brown’s virtue-signalling.

On June 1, 2022, the Oregonian reported that the bodies of six young women had been found in the greater Portland area, prompting speculation of a potential serial killer. Those bodies included Kristin Smith, found in Southeast Portland on Feb. 19; Joanna Speaks, found in Ridgefield, Washington on April 11; Charity Perry, found at Ainsworth State Park on April 24; and an unidentified woman, also found on April 24, in Lents; Bridget Webster, found in Oregon’s Polk County on April 30; and Ashley Real, found in Clackamas County on May 7 […]

On June 6, Calhoun was arrested and taken into custody during a multi-agency manhunt that included the Multnomah and Clackamas county sheriff’s offices and the U.S. Marshals Service. He is being held on a parole violation at the Snake River Correctional Institution in Ontario, Oregon.

Although he is yet to be formally charged with the murders, Calhoun’s clemency has since been revoked and he has been placed back into custody.

Bit late now, though.

After learning of Calhoun’s arrest, Brown told Willamette Weekly: “I’m absolutely horrified for the victims, their families, and all those who have experienced this loss.”

The Post-Millennial

Perhaps you shouldn’t have mass released people who were in prison for good reason, then, no matter how many votes it won you in left-wing Portland?

No doubt the families of the innocent slain would find Brown’s “oopsie” a cold comfort.

To damn her with faint praise, Brown is far from the only Democrat with blood on her hands.

A group of Tennessee Republican lawmakers pushed the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Monday to explain how an illegal immigrant accused of raping multiple children was allowed to stay in the U.S. for two decades.

That’s nothing: in Australia, former “Human Rights” Commissioner Gillian Triggs wrung her hands that a refugee who bashed his pregnant wife to death with a bicycle had suffered “indignity, mental suffering, disgrace and humiliation” in being “arbitrarily” imprisoned. She recommended hundreds of thousands of dollars in compensation.

I wonder how much she’d fork out to a child-rapist?

The letter referred to the case of Camilo Hurtado Campos, a youth soccer coach and illegal immigrant living in Franklin, Tennessee. Police say they found “disturbing videos and pictures” on documenting the “rapes of at least 10 children” ages 9 to 17 on Campos phone, which he accidentally left at a restaurant, according to The Tennessean.

“We fear that, in addition to very recent victims, there could be a decade or more of victims out there,” Franklin Police Department Lt. Charles Warner said last week. More people have since stepped forward and said they were victimized by Campos, who is being held in custody on charges of child rape and sexual exploitation of a minor.

As the Republican lawmakers point out, none of it would have happened if America’s border laws were enforced.

“Perhaps most devastating of all, this horrific abuse was entirely preventable — police confirmed on July 12 that Campos is an illegal immigrant who should not have been in our country in the first place,” the lawmakers wrote in the letter on Monday. “Indeed, if this administration had any interest in enforcing our nation’s laws, he wouldn’t have been.”

The Daily Wire

Even after multiple arrests, Campos was allowed to stay on as a so-called “undocumented” immigrant.

Except that he was very much documented as a repeat criminal. Or, as it now emerges, the very worst kind. If Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and his agency had done their jobs, dozens of American children would not have been raped.

Will anybody responsible ever be properly held to account, though?
