The Doctor

There has been a lot of hand wringing about the unbelievable constitutional overreach of Five Waters. It is so over-the-top that they must be desperate to achieve their goals that they expose their hand so clearly.

I’m not talking about the requirement for a 60 per cent majority to overturn the anti-privatisation provisions but the overriding of the one-person-one-vote principal that has supposedly governed democracy since Adam (or a least ancient Athens).

I say ‘supposedly’ because the statement is historically inaccurate. Until the end of the 19th century only males could vote. Certain races, foreigners, paupers, slaves, prisoners, lunatics, idiots, those who do not own land and non-citizens have been routinely excluded from the “democratic” process.

These days, if you want to vote, then you must give your power of attorney to some shower of ‘lawyers’ in Wellington. And they will do what they think is best for you (hint: it will be what is best for them). And in return, you are bound by all their acts and statutes and regulations and secondary legislation and by laws and…

Don’t get me wrong, it’s better than nothing. And compared to the slaves in Athens or the paupers in feudal England, it is a pretty good deal. The problem is when they start breaking their side of the deal by making you need to get jabbed to have a job or a driving test or when they say your vote is worth two thirds of someone else’s. Then you start questioning the arrangement (or you do if you are me).

How come I seem to have less and less power to influence legislation and that legislation seems to be more and more detrimental to me? Taking away my currency, my rights, my guns, my free speech, my ability to travel and to make a living? There is something structurally wrong with the current contract.

And that is why I love Three Five Waters. It is an object lesson on governance. You can see clearly where those lawyers in Wellington want to take the corporation trading as “The Government of New Zealand”. First co-governance and then what Klaus Schwab calls global governance.

Global governance works just like the European Union. The unelected European Commission is the only body that can originate legislation. The lawyers in the European Parliament are reduced to stirring speeches and up or down votes. The agenda is already set. It is just a matter of wearing down the MEPs until they acquiesce. It’s like the Holy Roman Empire. The kings of Europe were free to do what they want so long as it agreed with the Pope (Isn’t the treaty that established the EU called the Treaty of Rome? Hmm.)

So, I am hoping that Three Five Waters will wake people up, not just to the prospect of co and global governance but also to the current contract that we have. Did you know that the holder of the Seal of New Zealand (the Prime Minister) can give instructions to the Governor General who, in turn, can give instructions to the Prime Minister. No King to be seen and certainly no subjects of His Majesty required. Our system can rightfully be termed the dictatorship of the cabinet.

What is the solution? Well, it has been there all along, we just haven’t taken advantage of it. We need to give up being corporate citizens, residents and persons and return to being loyal subjects of His Majesty. We can then restore a de jure assembly of New Zealand, High Court and civil service under the auspices of the Imperial laws which are still on the books and are simply waiting for us to use them.
