Just for now, I have had a gutsful of Covid, terrorists, Ardern, the MSM and this Labour Government in general. Fortunately, I have had the opportunity to escape the confines of living life in a political straitjacket within this now depressing regime.

Walking long distances has never been an aspiration of mine. In fact, walking a moderate distance still has no appeal, but during lockdown this has become my beloved’s and my only means of escape. Yesterday we walked our usual route along The Parade at Bucklands Beach up to Musick Point and back to our starting point, approximately eight kilometres. Having walked this circuit many times before and recently, every day for the past three weeks, I’m slowly acquiring the status of an elite athlete. I have even been able to walk beside my beloved without complaining about the ridiculous pace she insists on setting. But I digress. Yesterday, Bucklands Beach was as crowded as Queen Street during Friday late night shopping back in the 60s.

It is clear that in this part of the world we have decided we are now in level ‘whatever’. The road was packed with vehicles coming from and going to goodness knows where. There were many cyclists sharing the road to add to the congestion and many hundreds of walkers, fishermen, picnickers, and family gatherings spread out on blankets along the beach. About half were wearing masks, but all were free on a beautiful sunny day. The small dairy down the side road was doing a grand trade serving the necessities of life, but just two doors up the road a small cafeteria run by a lovely young Vietnamese couple, who know all their customers by name, remained barricaded, reminding all who is ruling this country.

It appears it is not only I who have had a gutsful of this oppressing regime. Long may the populace rebel and live their lives as they choose. Earlier on during lockdown, there was a regular police patrol along The Parade but even they no longer bother. This fraction of Ardern’s “team of five million” were clearly giving her the middle finger.
