The drug Ronapreve – known as REGEN-COV in the US – has been shown to prevent infections and reduce the need for hospital treatment, the regulator said. Made by the US company Regeneron and Switzerland’s Roche, it was famously part of the experimental treatment given to former US President Donald Trump.

Regeneron in NY state has developed a wonderful Covid therapeutic that no media in New Zealand is asking any questions about. I alerted the Ministry of Health (MOH) three months ago and they ignored it.

It is highly effective and FDA approved and it has the clear potential to normalise life in New Zealand. We appear to be aiming to be last in the queue again. The 277+ people in New Zealand with Covid should be being treated with it. For that not to be happening is negligence. The UK, Japan and the USA are already using it.

“The combination therapy is authorised to treat and prevent COVID-19 including in people who may need ongoing monthly doses if they have a medical condition that makes them unlikely to respond to or be protected by vaccination.”

“UK health and social care secretary, Sajid Javid, said:  This treatment will be a significant addition to our armoury to tackle COVID-19.”
“Ronapreve is the first of its kind for the treatment of COVID-19, and after a meticulous assessment of the data by our expert scientists and clinicians, we are satisfied that this treatment is safe and effective. With no compromises on quality, safety and efficacy, the public can trust that the MHRA has conducted a robust and thorough assessment of all the available data.”

“the casirivimab/imdevimab combination is available in more than 20 countries”
“Casirivimab and imdevimab are potent, virus-neutralising antibodies that bind non-competitively to the critical receptor binding domain of the virus’s spike protein. By doing so, the drugs reduce the ability of mutant viruses to escape treatment and protect against spike variants that have arisen in the human population.”
