I think it is fair to say that the cult of Jacinda is still in the early chapters of The Emperor’s New Clothes, the study in group-think by Hans Christian Andersen where some complicit weavers convince the Emperor and the people that he is indeed magnificent in his new clothes.

The current stance of the media to begin to challenge some of the statements that come out of the Beehive is part of this and is a classic media trick to quell the unease, and to show that they are just like us. I wouldn’t expect for one second that the sudden Stuff articles challenging the Government are anything other than the half-baked punches of a 3rd rate boxer pushed into the ring to elevate the reputation of a has-been champ. It makes a great spectacle but we all know that it is nothing but a show. The fans will lap it up and happily pay their money to watch. The fact that the whole thing is rigged is of no consequence to them, and if anyone looked at the odds in any such competition they’d know before the fight started who was going to win.

The BFD

So the cult of Jacinda may be on the ropes, but let’s make no mistake, this is all part of the game plan of convincing us that the champ still has it, and look at her clothes. A few flaccid punches, the crowd get nervous, will the champ go down? Is her reign over? Those doubters are suddenly nervous, they should have taken the odds on the contender, and their love of the old champ is reinforced; they’d hate to see her lose, fight back they shout, fight back! And then, like magic, up she gets, and suddenly from nowhere comes a big left hook, followed by a right, and the champ knocks down the hapless contender, and the crowd goes wild. Even those fence-sitters are impressed, what a gutsy comeback, maybe they were wrong? They all chant CINDER CINDER and all is good in the world.

Except the Empress really has no clothes, and the fight was never a fight. If anyone dares to mention this, they just point to the result and say what about that? We’re watching a superbly stage-managed event where a complicit media have nothing to lose. Like the has-been contender, they’re getting paid to be in the ring no matter what the result and, like the con-men weavers, they have too much at stake to allow the crowd to get close enough to see that there are no clothes and that the punches were pulled. They are going to dive at some point but they have to falter and fall at just the right moment for maximum effect, and everyone leaves satisfied it was a great fight.

But anyway, back to the “Empress’s New Clothes” as it should be called; this whole exercise is a study in how to turn the detractors; make it a spectacle; show them directly how much power she wields. Look at those fine clothes? Don’t you see them? You are just not worthy enough to see them. If you were more like us you’d see them, go on look harder…..

Those of us that shout that there are no clothes are instantly shouted down by the crowd who not only see the clothes, they truly believe that they are the best clothes they have ever seen. The way to snap the illusion is to ask them to describe the clothes and to watch them draw on their own imaginations to describe the perfect outfit as they see it. And so their own bias and desires are recounted, and they close their eyes and describe what they believe they see. Sadly everyone sees what they want to see, and in reality it has nothing to do with the Empress; she is just the show pony, the dupe, riding the hysteria and PR, helped along by the media fake weavers who have nothing to lose by running this charade. The people are not even looking anymore, such is their rapture of imagining such fine clothes that they can never go back and admit they were wrong.

The BFD

Unfortunately, as I said at the beginning, we are only in the early chapters, and to even raise the possibility that the Empress is looking a little naked is an act of treason; you are clearly a pervert and clothist of the highest order. If you dare to debate this, you must think everyone is naked and you need to be locked up with your dirty thoughts. We need to remember that the media fake weavers cannot afford (literally) to allow you to even contemplate that there are in fact no clothes. There is no trick too dirty, no strategy too ugly, and no deal that they won’t make to ensure that you believe that the Empress is fully dressed and glorious.

If we don’t start to shout out that the Empress is naked, she will get a whole new wardrobe for 3 more years, and, boy, will those media weavers make a lot of money this time.
