Former MP and current Dunedin City Councillor, David Benson-Pope has brought no pants and a feather duster to the latest council meeting.

It had all the hallmarks of a classic British sitcom: a feather duster and a pants-less gentleman cleaning his study.

But this was no laughing matter, this was local government in action.

And in this case it was a meeting of the Dunedin City Council held over Zoom on Monday afternoon.

The online meeting faced a few technological challenges, including sound problems.

But it quickly found its feet via an unlikely source.

Enter, councillor David Benson-Pope.

I guess it could have been worse, he could have doing his chores in a leather gimp suit.
