As I wrote previously, the legacy media have long ago stopped even pretending to report the facts. Especially when it concerns President Donald Trump.
But even worse than lying about things which did happen, the legacy media are straight-up manufacturing lies out of whole cloth.
A viral story which was touted by the legacy media and then swept through social media last week was that “Hero healthcare workers stand in street to block right-wing protest against Colorado stay-at-home order”.
The story screamed “fake news” from the start.
A small group of health care workers blocked hundreds of protestors in Denver on Sunday afternoon, resulting in a dramatic showdown.
But the holes in the story were obvious immediately. What “small group of healthcare workers”? Photos showed at most two or three people. Whether or not they were really healthcare workers was never established. Even HuffPo admitted that it had been unable to identify the anonymous pair.
Anyone can buy scrubs off Amazon for just $20 or so. Without any kind of ID, all the photos showed were two people in costume, hidden behind masks and dark glasses.
Photojournalist Alyson McClaran captured the tense confrontation in a series of photos posted to social media on Sunday. Video clips also emerged on Twitter showing right-wing demonstrators screaming and honking at the nurses as they calmly stood their ground in the street.
“They were blocking the roads until the police force stepped in,” McClaran told the New York Times. “People were putting their cars right up against them.”
The only problem is that the Denver “protest” shows just a couple of randos in dress-up. But when journalists tried to repeat the stunt a few days later in Virginia, they were caught in the act.
One of the drivers in Virginia tells the story:
There was so much traffic no one was moving anyway[…]This “doctor/nurse,” with his OWN CAMERA CREW, was going back and forth across our intersection attempting to BLOCK the suv in front of us to stage the “doctor/nurse” blocking intersections routine.
Footage obtained by LiveLeak shows that the whole “confrontation” appears to have been a staged photo-op.
As the video shows, the “nurse” waited at a pedestrian crossing, with two photographers standing by. One photographer crosses the street and squats in place, the other waits. The “nurse” quickly walks in front of the traffic and poses for an instant with their placard while the photographers snap a few shots. Confronted by onlookers, the group walk off together.
This seems like a blatantly staged media event. This is on top of other fake “nurse” stories touted by the media, like CBS’ story of a “crying nurse” supposedly quitting her job because of the stress of the Chinese virus. It was a fake. “Jussie Smollett in scrubs,” as PJ Media put it.
Even if this was a genuine nurse making a genuine protest, it cannot be denied that the photos in Virginia were staged. That’s a big deal. Not so long ago, photographers caught doing that were sacked and blackballed. Not any more.
The legacy media are fabricating “news” – and their gullible audiences are swallowing it without question.
