Both the local and international media have made mileage out of the USA heading the coronavirus-related deaths world tables with a total of 26,322 as at April 13 and, of course, it’s all Donald Trump’s fault. But as is expected, so much of the “Orange Man” derangement syndrome is promoted by hysterical bias, political point-scoring and, as usual, un-researched BS.

Yes, things are grim in the US but, by world standards, they are far from the basement. The logical and accurate assessment must be reported as deaths per million of population of each country. This throws up quite a different picture.

The population of the US is 328 million. This calculates out to 69 deaths per million. (69×328=26,322 deaths).

European countries whose rates of coronavirus deaths per million of population are worse than US:

  • Spain 374
  • Italy 338
  • Belgium 337
  • France 221
  • Britain 167
  • Netherlands 165
  • Luxembourg 110
  • Sweden 91

Also, the combination of all 29 EU countries averages 82 deaths per million which is 13 more than the US.

There are also many other non-European countries which fare far worse than the US. This just shows how the media can manipulate the facts to fit their agenda. But what is worse, the Democrats are electioneering with the intention of promoting their country as the worst in the world. They are prepared to destroy their country’s reputation to secure power, which must be unpalatable to most Americans. And, of course, it’s all Trump’s fault.
