After a nuclear explosion, fallout ensues and the aftermath of the Suella Braverman sacking is no exception.

Within 48 hours the UK Supreme Court had decided that the proposal to send Asylum Seekers to Rwanda was illegal. Two hours after that decision was reached Rishi Sunak was savaged at PMQs by Keir Starmer. Hard to believe, but he was given a right old mauling. He looked weak and confused.

The same day he said that they were working on Plan B (which Suella Braverman said didn’t exist). She also said that she had a written agreement with Sunak setting out the terms on which she accepted the job of Home Secretary. She claimed that this proved everything she stated in her goodbye letter. The whole of the great and the good are now waiting for her to go public with this.

As a result, Rishi Sunak now has a nickname which is whispered around Westminster and the media – “The Snake”. He appears more and more wimpish every day with a distinct lack of vision and leadership. He has also been referred to by some of his party members as a “spineless wimp”. I think it is safe to say that he is in deep trouble.

Just to cheer Sunak up the results of a poll were released showing that Labour has increased its support to 46%, with the Conservatives dropping to 19%. In a surprise move the third place went to the Reform party on 10%. Reform was founded by Nigel Farage. Next came the Lib Dems with 9%, the Greens with 8% and the SNP with 5%. 2198 people were interviewed on the 13th and 14th of November.

Rumblings can be heard in the Conservative party and more letters are winging their way to the 1922 committee.

Meanwhile, there was a vote in the Commons last night, sponsored by the Scottish Nationalist Party asking for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. This was defeated, 290 for, 183 against, with Keir Starmer imposing a three-line whip on Labour MPs to abstain. 56 Labour MPs voted for the ceasefire, against instructions from Starmer. As a result, 10 front bench spokesmen resigned, comprising 8 shadow ministers and 2 PPS (Parliamentary Private Secretaries).

This has put Starmer under immense pressure and has caused accusations of antisemitism in the Labour Party to rise to the surface.

Nigel Farage has arrived in Australia to take part in “I’m a celebrity, get me out of here”. It only needs him to put in a decent performance and even more pressure would be brought on the major parties. When vox pop interviews are carried out as to the preferred Prime Minister, Sunak or Starmer, the growing response is neither.

The political situation in the UK is a total mess and one can almost see the knives flashing as everyone is stabbing everyone else in the back. Meanwhile, just to show that life goes on as normal despite all the political turmoil sweeping the country, in Essex a council has “improved” traffic congestion at 3 adjacent roundabouts by installing 48 traffic lights. Batshit Bonkers Britain never changes.
