Stuart Nash used to be a capable politician but somewhere along the line he became neutered and illogical. Last week he suggested, as the new Police Minister, that the way to stop ram raids was to ban the sale of a legal product from stores:

Returning Police Minister Stuart Nash wants to quicken the scheduled reduction of dairies that can sell cigarettes and is engaging fellow ministers with the aim of preventing ram raids.

You’d normally think that this was a rush of shit to the brains, but no, he’s deadly serious.

But will he go the next step and ban ice cream, as that is also directly related to a ram raid?

Six people have been arrested overnight after they smashed their way into a pizza shop and stole ice creams.

Police responded to reports of the smash-and-grab at Black Box Pizza in Coronation Rd, Mangere Bridge, around 2.30am today.

Next, the Government will announce that banks should get rid of cash, to reduce bank robberies. Come to think of it, that’ll be how they push for the removal of cash totally as they implement a digital currency.

Will he also stop liquor stores from selling alcohol to reduce alcohol robberies?

Perhaps supermarkets should also stop selling food to reduce shoplifting!

It never seems to occur to these criminal-friendly politicians that they should… you know… tell the Police to do their job!

No, instead they go all totalitarian and suggest the banning of legal products instead of focusing on the actual crime.

I imagine Michael Wood, in his new role as Auckland Minister will be asking Stuart Nash to make good on Wood’s promise to ban penis lollies.
