Dear Editor

I have seen some really strange decisions by Jacinda Ardern but Mallard’s posting to Europe takes the cake and really shows how out of touch she is.

A few years back Trevor Mallard had a punch-up with National Minister Tau Henare. Is that the sort of person you want to represent New Zealand? He has made a complete mess of being the Speaker of the House and many calls have been made to have him step down but Ardern backed him and he remained as Speaker.

Maybe she was proud of the decisions he made during the protest to turn the sprinklers on and play Barry Manilow music. Is that the sort of person you want to represent New Zealand in Europe?

Mallard has been one of the most useless ministers I have ever seen and she gives him this posting as a swan song. What will happen in Europe when somebody doesn’t like one of the decisions he makes? Will he punch him, turn the water cannons on him or perhaps her, or maybe play Barry Manilow music for them?

This must be one of the worst decisions she has decided to make, and she’s made some stupid ones before this. An example of these decisions is the health reform cost when hospitals are at peak capacity. Let’s waste millions on change when the money being spent would be better used to give doctors and nurses more money so they stop leaving the country. Then let’s look at Three Waters and dividing the country with co-governance. I am absolutely shocked by these last two decisions she has made, but Mallard takes the cake.
