Planned Parenthood is one of the unassailable demigods of the American left. No matter how vile an organisation it continually proves itself to be.

Even leaving aside the vexed question of the right or wrongs of abortion per se, Planned Parenthood is, on its own actions, just a nasty piece of work. Yet, the left, tribal as ever, continue to defend PP to the hilt.

Despite the current vogue for toppling statues and un-personing historical figures with even the slightest connection to slavery, PP’s roots in racist eugenics are simply hand-waved away — even though its continuing legacy is a disproportionate targeting of black women. Despite clear evidence that PP was deliberately using its late-term abortion program to maximise the profitability of the butchered foetuses, the left bent themselves through all manner of contortions to deny the obvious and attack the messenger.

Then there’s its involvement in China’s euphemistic One Child Policy.

Reggie Littlejohn, President of Women’s Rights Without Frontiers, stated, “The One Child Policy has been responsible for hundreds of millions of forced abortions and sterilizations and untold human suffering. While posturing as a champion of choice, International Planned Parenthood has been working hand in hand with the population control program in China, almost since its inception. Forced abortion is not a choice.

Women’s Rights Without Frontiers calls for a full-scale, international investigation of International Planned Parenthood to determine the exact nature of its operations in China. Transparency is demanded by the fact that IPPF receives taxpayer dollars from the United States and other nations as well. I believe it is impossible to work so closely with the Chinese Communist Party’s forced abortion machine without being complicit in its atrocities. This is especially the case when this year we learned that the number of abortions in China is not 13 million, but a staggering 23 million a year.”

The One Child Policy has been a demographic and human rights disaster in China, only differing from such calamities as the Cultural Revolution in that its primary victims have been hundreds of millions of Chinese women and unborn.

In China, abortion has little to do with a woman’s choice. The world was shocked in 2012 when the photograph of Feng Jianmei lying next to her forcibly aborted baby emerged through Women’s Rights Without Frontiers into Western media, showing millions the true face of Chinese population control.

Forced abortion continues under China’s new Two Child Policy. On July 22, 2016, for example, a Guangdong couple was told they must have an abortion or both lose their government jobs. The wife was eight months pregnant.

So, what does this have to do with Planned Parenthood?

Its global wing, the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), has been hand-in-glove involved with the One Child Policy from the beginning.

In 2001, the British Parliament was told that IPPF has “been closely involved in the one-child policy for almost as long as the policy has existed.” Its involvement is through its member organisation, Chinese Family Planning Association (CFPA), which IPPF praises as “contribut[ing] towards the building of a harmonious society”: “Harmonious Society” being the euphemism that the Chinese Communist Party applies to its regime of absolute state control. As with all things in China, there is no effective demarcation between the CFPA and the communist regime.

Also in 2001, Amnesty International reported that Chinese “family planning” officials were torturing parents and even children who breached the CCP’s family planning rules. At the same time, 1.7 million children are abandoned every year in China by parents trying to avoid punishment for breaking the rules. In some state-run orphanages, the mortality for children under two approaches 100%.

Today IPPF is still CFPA’s main partner, and IPPF has gone on record praising China’s notoriously coercive policy.

IPPF’s website affirmed in 2011 that it “supports the present family planning policy of the [Chinese] government”.

Littlejohn points out that Americans and the international community have a stake in this problem because our tax money helps fund it. According to a March 2015 report from the United States Government Accountability Office, International Planned Parenthood has received U.S. taxpayer dollars. According to its own financial report, International Planned Parenthood receives funds from other governments, the United Nations Family Planning Fund (UNFPA), and private foundations as well.

Questions are also raised over the CFPA’s (and by extension, IPPF’s) involvement in the genocide campaign against Uyghurs in China, which is largely carried out by means of forced abortion and sterilisation.

Yet, despite the clear evidence of its knowing and enthusiastic involvement in decades of brutality against women and children in China, if not actual genocide, Planned Parenthood remains the golden idol of the American left.
