Freedom fighters around the world would have heard or sung the newest anthem for freedom and unity. While ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ by Loza Alexander is becoming popular in America as the anti-Biden anthem, ‘You Can Stick Your Vaccine Mandates Up Your Ass’ is slowly going viral as the anthem for freedom.
The song is actually called ‘We Are The 99%’, written and performed by Darren ‘DazNez’ Nessbitt, an anarchist musician/busker. It’s unclear when he first performed it but videos on the internet show him performing it as far back as 2013 at a time of internet privacy issues, government bailouts of the banks and the threat of a privatised NHS. The original chorus was ‘You Can Stick Your New World Order Up Your Ass’ but it appears as if more and more lyrics have been added over time. Now the song has become the anthem for those opposing lockdowns, vaccine mandates and the Great Reset. The song is sung to the tune of ‘She’ll Be Coming Round The Mountain Once Again’
The song has mostly been sung by the British movement; however, it has been heard in places such as Australia and Canada. And now it has been heard in New Zealand.
One of the ways to protest is through music, which historically has been a form of political expression. It is especially useful to reference insults or embarrassing facts about political opponents in the lyrics. This was exemplified by New Zealand reggae band ‘ Herbs’, who wrote the song ‘French Letter’ in opposition to the French nuclear tests. It is more annoying to take the tune from another song which is seen as from the ‘establishment’. An example was trade unionist Pete Seeger who wrote ‘Solidarity Forever’, as the anthem for the unions, which was to be sung to the tune of ‘March of the Republic’.

I’m sure some of you won’t agree with some of the lyrics. I found that we can easily replace ‘the Queen’ in verse 6 with ‘Jacinda’, if it would make the song more relevant.
The reason I didn’t include the verse ‘Stick your vaccine mandates up your ass’, was because it was not in the original but is an addition put in by the Australian and New Zealand freedom fighters. It’s interesting to note that when the Australians first sang it, they started with a much cleaner rendition of the song, replacing the word ‘ass’ with ‘bum’.
