Great news for my kids this week: no more grumbling in the classroom about how the planet is coming out of an ice age.

They can now go full woke and refuse to strike, to protest and to write yet another diatrible on saving the planet. Their special virtue is in not saving the planet.

They can cite for authority “School Strike 4 Action Auckland” which has declared itself racist and debarred itself from further action:

“School Strike 4 Climate Auckland has avoided, ignored, and tokenised black, indigenous and people of colour voices and demands, especially those of Pasifika and Maori individuals in the climate activism space”

School Strike 4 Climate Auckland said people of colour were disproportionately affected by climate change, so the fight for climate justice should be led by their voices and needs, not Pakeha ones.

Wellington City councillor Tamatha Paul explains:

“Maori, Pacific, disabled and poorer people would bear the brunt of the impact of climate change, so must be at the forefront of the fight.”

“The struggle for the environment was intrinsically linked with capitalism, racism, and all the systemic failures in society.”

“If you try to attack one without taking into account the others, then you will inevitably fail because you’re not dismantling the system that is enabling this destruction to occur.

“So that’s why it’s important that people with lived experience and real-life experience of that systemic inequality are the ones to lead the solutions on those.”

My kids agree. They are stepping back. They won’t partake in any political, social or environmental causes at school. They must be firm with their teachers and just say no. They don’t want to be White Saviours. They are getting on with calculus and learning the violin. They are having fun and figuring out how to make a billion.

Who would have guessed? The Woke have set them free.
