What on earth is Jacinda I, the “Queen of the Pestilence” going to do now that WHO has come out and said that countries should not be using lockdowns as their primary control method?
The UK’s envoy to the World Health Organisation (W.H.O.) has condemned mass coronavirus lockdowns, slamming the “ghastly global catastrophe” caused by crashing the world economy.
Dr. David Nabarro from the W.H.O. appealed to world leaders on Saturday, telling them to stop “using lockdowns as your primary control method” of the coronavirus.
He claimed that the only thing lockdowns achieved was poverty – with no mention of the potential lives saved.
This is in direct contrast to W.H.O. chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus who as far back as April gave his full support to lockdowns, and even warned against lifting them too soon, as Breitbart News reported.
Then in August, Tedros praised several national governments including the UK, France, South Korea and Germany for “using all the tools at their disposal to tackle any new spikes” which included regional lockdowns.
Speaking to Andrew Neil of the Spectator magazine, Dr. Nabarro bemoaned the collapse of the international tourism industry and claimed there would be a “doubling” in the levels of world poverty and child malnutrition by 2021 as he warned that lockdowns make “poor people an awful lot poorer.”
“I want to say it again: We in the World Health Organisation do not advocate lockdowns as a primary means of controlling this virus,” Dr. Nabarro said.
Instead, Dr. Nabarro is advocating for a new approach to containing the virus.
“And so, we really do appeal to all world leaders: stop using lockdown as your primary control method. Develop better systems for doing it. Work together and learn from each other.”
Well, well, well, what is she going to do now? That’s the only tactic, which she calls a strategy or a plan for them to use.
Worse still, lockdowns are going to seriously hamper her “plan” to finally defeat child poverty.
After months of telling us to follow the science, and do what the WHO told us to do, what do they do?
They roll out the pink-haired Labour party hack, an expert in glowing plankton, to tell us that the WHO probably doesn’t mean that it applies to New Zealand:
But Dr Siouxsie Wiles, a Kiwi microbiologist and one of the country’s foremost COVID-19 experts, says while she hasn’t read Dr Nabarro’s comments in full, she doesn’t believe they necessarily apply to New Zealand.
In part, this is because Dr Nabarro told Magic Talk just over a month ago that New Zealand’s coronavirus response had given “the rest of the world a lot to learn from”.
“I appreciate it’s been extremely tough – especially because it’s meant massive economic pain – but at the same time, by getting ahead of the virus at the beginning, you stopped there being a lot of virus in the country,” he told Ryan Bridge in late August.
“I think there you can show the rest of the world that the key is going to be to get on top of the virus and hold it at bay because the virus is the enemy, people are the solution.”
The other thing to consider, Dr Wiles says, is that the definition of lockdown can vary substantially from country to country.
Well, that’s a load of bullshit. For a start, she is not one of the nation’s foremost experts on COVID-19. She’s not a virologist or even an immunologist. She is a microbiologist. Furthermore, her area of specialty is glowing plankton.
And her rationale holds as much water as a colander. She should stick to fundraising for the Labour party.
Naturally though, It is Fakes Newshub that is running the interference. They really have become the television broadcast arm of the Labour party.
The bottom line is this, lockdowns can’t work, even if the virus is as “tricky” as they say it is. If it really is that “tricky” then an artificial strategy like a lockdown isn’t going to work. At some point, we have to open our borders and rejoin the world and then we will have to endure that which has only been mitigated so far, and six months behind the rest of the world who have got on with life.
This government is now, through its mouthpieces, telling us to ignore WHO advice. Which other WHO advice should we ignore?
Or is all of it total rubbish because this virus is so tricky that only Jacinda I, “Queen of the Pestilence” knows how to deal with it?
And if that’s the case surely the same person responsible for policy disasters like Kiwibuild, Light rail and eradicating poverty can’t possibly have managed to get this right either.
