The latest Taxpayers’ Union/Curia poll is out and the centre-right are still in front of the worst Government in living memory.

PartySupportChange from last month
National39.2%+2.2
Labour34.4%+1.0
Green7.2%-2.7
ACT9.4%-3.0
Maori2.1%+0.6
NZ First2.1%+0.5
Other5.7%+1.5

National increases its support by a further 2.2 points from September to 39.2% in October while Labour is also up 1 point to 34.4%. ACT drops 3 to 9.4% and the Greens are also down 2.7 to 7.2%.

The smaller parties are TOP on 3.4%, Maori Party at 2.1%, NZ First at 2.1% and New Conservatives at 1.0%

Here is how these results would translate to seats in Parliament, assuming all electorate seats are held:

The centre-right of National and Act have enough seats to form a government, while Labour, the Greens and the Maori Party together would fail to gain the numbers.

What is surprising is the level of support for Ardern’s increasingly wonky Government.

As the economy continues to tank and the cost of living crisis coupled with rampant inflation starts to bite harder, expect support for Ardern’s Government to crack.
