LBJ famously said that if he’d lost Walter Cronkite, he’d lost America. So, what does it mean if Joe Biden has lost Jake Tapper?

Well, it probably doesn’t mean he’s lost America. As the worst-polling elected American president in history, Biden has clearly already done that long ago. Losing Tapper means something even worse: Biden has lost the legacy media.

But first, the moment Jake Tapper and CNN clearly decided to let go of their Brandon.

CNN anchor Jake Tapper made it clear on Monday that he was not going to allow White House economic adviser Brian Deese to blame the still-rising gas prices on Russian President Vladimir Putin and his continued war against Ukraine.

“Today, on average, gas is costing $4.60 a gallon, that’s up more than $0.10 a gallon from last week, almost $0.50 from last month,” Tapper began, highlighting the record high prices that Americans have been facing at the pump and noting that fuel prices are expected to keep rising in the coming months. “We’re one week away from Memorial Day, should Americans be buckling up for these high prices all summer?”

Deese responded with some fluff about working hard to bring down gas prices, but then pivoted to Biden’s catch-all excuse at the moment: blame Vlad.

“As you know, this all emanates from Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine —”

“Not all of it,” Tapper pushed back, cutting Deese off. “Not all of it. Some of it, yes.”

This cuts away Biden’s sole excuse for the spiralling cost-of-living crisis that’s slamming America, as well as the rest of the world. “Putin Price Hike.” It’s a catchy phrase — and it’s bullshit. So bullshit that even the legacy media aren’t letting him get away with it anymore.

Fox News White House Correspondent Peter Doocy pushed back on that claim when it was made by then Press Secretary Jen Psaki.

“It sounds like you are blaming Putin for the increase in gas prices recently, but weren’t gas prices going up anyway because of post-pandemic supply chain issues?” he asked.

Psaki insisted that gas prices were rising because of the war between Ukraine and Russia, and argued that if they had gone up prior to the late-February invasion, the increases had been in anticipation of the war.

Of course, it had nothing to do with Biden’s very first act as president: cancelling the Keystone XL pipeline, trashing tens of thousands of jobs and ending the Trump era of energy independence at a single stroke.

Doocy continued to challenge Psaki on the subject, asking what it would take for Biden to start removing roadblocks to domestic production in order to increase the global supply.

“Gas prices are approaching an all-time high per gallon. How high would they have to get before President Biden would say, ‘I’m going set aside my ambitious climate goals adjust increase domestic oil production, get the producers to drill more here, and we can address the fossil fuel future later?’” he asked.

The Daily Wire

You can almost hear Greta Thunberg screeching, “How dare you!” from here.

But if Biden really has lost the legacy media, then he’s lost all hope. Even as his administration’s public approval has plunged to record lows, he’s always been able to rely on the media to have his back: to lie for him, to press-splain his demented mumblings.

We all know Biden lost his mind sometime back when flannel shirts were still high fashion. Now, he’s lost his sole remaining supporter base.

All he has left is the Deep State, who need a mindless puppet to stand at the podium and recite their talking points.
