By the end of this year Faafoi and Ardern want to prevent “ordinary conversations around sexuality.”

Douglas Murray, the author of The Madness of Crowds, Gender, Race and Identity, sees hardware trying to be software, in a gender dysphoria frenzy.

The claim (that sex is not biologically fixed) put a bomb under the feminist cause with completely predicable consequences for another problem we’ll come to with ‘trans’.  It left feminism with almost no defences against men arguing that they could become women. But the whole attempt to turn hardware into software has caused – and is continuing to cause – more pain than almost any other issue for men and women alike. It is at the foundation of the current madness.

There are not only men and women who are in pain. Little children, young people, and their parents are as well. Some trusts in the UK offer gender identity services for children under 18, with some patients as young as 3 or 4 years old.

They now have a record number of referrals and see 3,200% more patients than they did 10 years ago – with the increase for girls up by 5,337%.

Formal studies of detransitioning have been few, but there is more evidence now in the public arena showing that there is a growing number of people who are regretting their decision to transition.

Not only do they have to sort through issues of gender but they must also face an onslaught of negative feedback. Whereas when they transitioned they received affirmation, support and celebratory encouragement.

Detransitioners lose the support of the trans community and are shunned by the LGBT communities, often both online and in person. They are forming their own support groups online as they share their regrets about changing gender and why they chose to go back.

Some report they are vilified if they speak about their experience as a detransitioner. And so, in addition to suffering from their pre-existing conditions, they also now suffer social isolation and a lack of peer support.

Detransitioners were a particularly isolated group of people. They’re having to self-organise to find help and seek treatment.

Kris Faafoi, Jacinda Ardern and the socialist Labour Party are determined to ban Conversion Therapy by the end of the year.

The ‘Change and Suppression’ bill has become law in Victoria, Australia. Marriage, family, sex and gender beliefs can be criminalised, by not affirming options of counselling treatment, hormone treatment, medical intervention and gender realignment. Clinicians, doctors, teachers, pastors and parents can be criminalised should they endeavour to discuss the choices a person/child is thinking about, knowing the decision will have lifelong consequences.

No longer will it be lawful in New Zealand for a parent to say to a questioning young person, ‘14 is too young to change gender’. They will not be able to stall their offspring from making a decision to take puberty-blocking hormones or surgery, without facing the possibility of a hefty fine or even imprisonment.

In May 2021 SEGM (Society For Evidence Based Gender Medicine), an international group of over 100 clinicians and researchers concerned about the lack of quality evidence for the use of hormonal and surgical interventions as first-line treatment for young people with gender dysphoria, completed a study of detransitional-related needs and support.

Among the total of 237 survey participants, 92% were birth-registered females. Approximately 2/3 had transitioned both socially and medically, while just under 1/3 transitioned only socially (the option of “only medical” transition was not provided in the survey responses). Among those who medically transitioned, 46% underwent “gender-affirming” surgeries (vs. only undergoing hormonal interventions).

Reasons for Detransitioning

No one wants to force or coerce anyone regarding changing gender but banning conversion therapy is the tip of the iceberg. This legislation will control what you say and even prevent people from having a conversation about the pros and cons. In the case of Victoria law, parents are not able to even say a prayer with their child.

In The Madness of Crowds, Murray tells the tragic story of Nathan Verhelst. He was born a girl (Nancy) and transitioned (because she felt her parents were more accepting of her brothers) with hormone therapy, double mastectomy and a series of surgeries to construct a penis. A year after his third major surgery, he was euthanised by the State.

‘I do not want to be a monster’, he said just before he died.  He was deeply unhappy in his new body.
