It doesn’t matter how ethnically diverse your business is; at least 5%of suppliers to HealthSource must have “at least 50% Maori ownership or be “a Maori Authority as defined by the Inland Revenue Department.”

The BFD. Discrimination of the day. No “progressive procurement” for your business.

5% of suppliers if they want to supply the government must have Business partners from only one ethnic group. If the business owner is not Maori then they will need to give half their business to a person or persons who are. This is a tall order given that Maori make up such a small percentage of the New Zealand population. Not to mention the fact that it is a racist and discriminatory stipulation taking away a business owner’s freedom to pick their business partner or partners based on suitability and experience rather than race.

The BFD. Discrimination of the day. No “progressive procurement” for you ladies and gentlemen.

Don’t you just love the euphemism “progressive procurement.” that they use to describe this discriminatory and racist requirement?”

With your help Discrimination of the Day will become a regular segment on The BFD. A reader drew our attention to this so-called “progressive procurement” policy from HealthSource and we will highlight any other examples of racial discrimination that our readers send to us.

Let’s highlight the racism and discrimination inside New Zealand together because it is NOT OK!

There is NOTHING positive or “progressive” about discrimination.
