Oh, ya, they totally believed the lab-leak theory all along. The mainstream media and establishment politicians have done a complete about-face on the former “comic book conspiracy” that the Wuhan virus was engineered in and escaped from a lab – and they don’t want you to notice.
The same media and politicians who spent 18 months screaming CONSPIRACY THEORIST! at anyone who suggested that COVID-19 might have been engineered are suddenly all about the lab-leak. Not one of them has made the slightest admission that they might have been wrong. Even Facebook has suddenly un-banned lab-leak posts without the slightest blush of embarrassment.
But we know that they lied. And they know that we know that they lied. So, what’s the first resort for the media and politicians when they’re caught out? Throw the nearest convenient scapegoat under the bus.
Step up, Dr Anthony Fauci.
Now, I’m no Fauci-fan, unlike the simpering soy-boy responsible for these 55 secs of shame, but I suspect he’s being set up to take the fall for the entire media-political class, while they sidle off, whistling innocently.
America’s top medical adviser Anthony Fauci was informed as early as February 2020 that Covid-19 exhibited unusual viral characteristics which could have potentially been engineered in a lab, according to emails published.
The fact that it’s The Washington Post and Buzzfeed behind this ought to raise enormous red flags about the real agenda, here.
A trove of private correspondence, obtained by The Washington Post and Buzzfeed, reveal some of the crucial moments leading up to the pandemic in early 2020 when Dr Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, sought urgent information regarding the nature and origins of Covid-19[…]
In one email from Kristian Andersen, a virologist at the Scripps Research Institute in California, Dr Fauci was told that Dr Andersen and his fellow scientists had to “look really closely at all the sequences to see that some of the features (potentially) look engineered”.
The email dated February 1, 2020 said Mr Andersen and three other respected colleagues had discovered a genome “inconsistent with expectations from evolutionary theory”.
Okay, but to give Fauci his due, he’s supposed to make conclusions based on the weight of evidence. Even now, while there is a mountain of tantalising circumstantial evidence to support the lab-leak theory, there’s nothing anywhere near conclusive.
Besides, the same person who sent Fauci that email blatantly contradicted himself a few weeks later in the scientific literature.
Dr Andersen, despite his email, later authored a paper published by the Nature which concluded that he did not believe “any type of laboratory-based scenario is plausible”.
So, why did Andersen privately tell Fauci one thing and, just a month later, publicly state another?
Easy: Trump Derangement Syndrome. That March, President Trump had first publicly aired the lab-leak theory, and as every establishment hack knew, whatever the Bad Orange Man says, they had to say the opposite.
“Gain of Function” is the ominous watch-word of the establishment’s new-found enthusiasm for the lab-leak theory. It’s become to the mainstream media what “quantum” is to New Age charlatans. Just say the magic word and everyone says, “Oooh! Sciencey!”
Now, it’s true that Fauci was a proponent of GoF research when it was banned by the Obama administration. It’s also plausible that GoF experiments at the Wuhan Institute of Virology are what could have engineered the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It’s also true that, despite his denials, a US quango under Fauci’s oversight secretively funneled money to the WIV… where it might, maybe, have been used to fund GoF research.
That’s a whole lot of maybes and maybe–maybe-not connected facts.
But it’s out of such tangled webs that the establishment is weaving the rope to hang Fauci.
In another email from that same day, Dr Fauci wrote to his deputy at the NIAID, Hugh Auchincloss, attaching a 2015 research paper which described the so-called “gain-of-function research on coronaviruses”, which is designed to make them more deadly and transmissible.
Dr Fauci, who has repeatedly denied involvement in gain-of-function research, wrote: “Hugh, it is essential that we speak this AM … Read this paper … you will have tasks today that must be done.”
Dr Auchincloss replied: “The paper you sent me says the experiments were performed before the gain of function pause but have since been reviewed and approved by (the US National Institutes of Health) … will try to determine if we have any distant ties to this work abroad”.

So it looks here like Fauci is trying to uncover whether or not his bureaucracy was arms-length funding GoF research in China – which, if anything, mitigates in his favour. The smell here is of underlings working behind the boss’s back.
There’s no doubt that Fauci is a slippery customer who’s been up to his neck in the establishment litany of contradictions, backflips and bullshit.
But it also seems that he’s being set up to take a fall, so that a whole lot of very guilty people can walk away scot-free.
