Dear Judith,

I know you’re out there on the campaign trail and all that, and you’re probably hugely busy, listening to your PR advisers and doing your own brand of kissing babies, shaking hands and so on, but some of us are getting a bit worried, quite frankly. Time is running out for you.

I, for one, was pretty satisfied when you finally landed the leadership of the National Party. Along with probably many others, I heaved a sigh of relief when at last it seemed that we had a force to be reckoned with, who was experienced, totally in charge and ready to go into battle against the government. What’s happened?

I’m sure you have access to the same figures that contributors to this forum are quoting on a daily basis, in well-argued diatribes against the non-performance and non-delivery of earlier commitments by Jacinda and co.  The fact that the mainstream media are not jumping on these same monstrous failings, means that we need someone else, i.e. ‘the Opposition’, to highlight them, condemn them and hammer them home to the voting public. Not everyone reads The BFD, sadly, and without the balanced reporting we should be getting, far too many people are still blithely convinced that we have a wonderful PM, who’s doing an amazing job of managing COVID, and that is all that matters.

Judith, can I respectfully ask you, just WHEN are you and your National colleagues are planning to derail their self-satisfied and comfortable little run-up to the election? Those swinging voters in the middle need to know what’s really going on, and the die-hard Labour lovers could do with a hard, reality check.

Maybe your plan is to wait until the televised debates to blow them out of the water, so I await that with nervous anticipation, but I’m not sure that that will be enough, and it might well be too late.
