National MP, Andrew Falloon has resigned and won’t stand at the next election.
Andrew Falloon will stand down at the election after sending an indecent image to a person, Stuff understands.
The 37-year-old MP for Rangitata, who was elected in 2017, announced in a press release on Monday afternoon said that he had informed National Party leader Judith Collins that he would not be contesting the September election, citing a need to maintain his health and wellbeing.
Stuff understands the party was alerted to an alcohol-related incident involving Falloon, which was “unbecoming of an MP’’. The incident involved him sending at least one indecent picture, not of himself, to a person that does not work on the Parliamentary precinct.
Andrew Falloon practiced Jacinda Ardern’s refrain when drinking; going hard and early. He was the first to start and the last to leave. Now that has gotten him exited from National.
Apparently, when feeling a bit down about a mate topping himself, the thing you do is send a lewd image while drunk to help sort yourself out. Who knew?
Well, after one meeting with Judith over his shenanigans his career is crushed. Rightly so.
I’m glad the adults are running the party again, not wet behind the ears wombles.
This is yet another reason why we should have some sort of age limit on people becoming MPs.
The wet wing has pretty much been mopped up now. The old guard will be completely replaced at the election, and the toxicity of people like Bennett, Tolley and others expunged.
The National Party is remaking itself very quickly indeed.
Contrast that with Labour where they’ve railroaded staffers, let incompetents remain as ministers and buried dirty laundry in white-wash inquiries and reports.
