Government COVID-19 Response Briefing

The All of Government COVID-19 National Response will provide an update at 1.00 pm today.

Ministry of Health Update:

  • 18 new cases, 14 confirmed and 4 probable
  • 471 recovered
  • 1330 total cases
  • 14 in hospital, 5 in ICU, 1 in critical condition
  • 13 significant clusters, Matamata 70, Bluff 85 cases, Marist 85
  • 2% are confirmed as community transmission
  • 2421 tests processed
  • 3523 rolling seven day average
  • 61,167 total tests
  • 3 clusters associated with aged residential care facilities.
  • Spectrum Care childcare in Auckland. It has 28 cases, which originated in the community which spread to a person linked to the care centre. Five of the cases were staff of the child care centre, the rest were in the wider community – meaning the cluster was not centred at the childcare centre.
  • 13 Kiwis returning from a cruise ship abroad that has been afflicted by the virus, and they would go through the quarantine process.
  • “We may well see further deaths over the coming days, I’ll just be honest with you about that,” Bloomfield said about the Rosewood residents.
