Following Bill O’Reilly’s controversial departure from Fox News a few years ago, the channel was at a crossroads.

Would America’s most popular cable news service continue to smash CNN and MSNBC with the huge and consistent ratings from The O’Reilly Factor?

It turns out, there was no need to worry.

Tucker Carlson has not only continued the dominance, but he has also been what I consider one of the most influential and important cable news hosts in history.

From his beautifully written and produced opening monologues which go viral night after night, to some of the best analysis of a whirlwind last few years in US politics, Tucker has been on fire. No one has come even close to matching his skills.

Tucker even has a direct line with the President and has single handily had a role in Donald Trump’s decision making, including major foreign policy issues like Iran and North Korea.

The way Tucker incorporates humour, insightful commentary and just straight out destroying clueless liberals makes him great alone.

But his ratings, the most important factor, have been huge.

He consistently pulls the most viewers on Fox, even more than the formidable Sean Hannity with 3 – 4 million people a night.

Compare that to his competitor Anderson Cooper on fake news CNN, who is lucky to get 1 million a night.

Tucker Carlson may have only been hosting his show a few years, but let’s hope we can continue to enjoy his show long into the future.

Tucker: Impeachment is about a policy disagreement
