We have always known that MPs are as crooked as driftwood walking sticks. We all know they treat their paymasters, the taxpayer, with consummate contempt and quite frankly I’ve had a guts full. Whilst those of us, who choose to travel to Japan to follow the All Blacks, spend months if not years, scrimping and saving to live the dream, we have in the meantime Robertson and Peters on an all-expenses taxpayer-funded jaunt in Japan for no other purpose than to view the cup semis and finals live. Not a cent of their own money and on full salary with seats as prominent as Hansen’s.

The contempt continues with their BS business meetings which they claim is the purpose of their travel. How stupid do they think we are? Yet we laugh at the coincidence. What brasses me off is they get away with this without examination. A perk of the job? No. It is the exploitation of privilege, a self-serving indulgence that they pursue without regard to conscience. It’s at times like this their true character is exposed. It is at times like this we observe the hypocrisy riddled throughout the political landscape.

Why not send a deserving substitute to represent New Zealand’s support? Let’s say a few of the thousands of “good sorts” who make worthy and anonymous contributions to society without fiscal reward. The image of Robertson as our Minister of Sport has as much authenticity as throwing a ginger cat into a bowl of water and calling it a goldfish. And how dare we accuse Peters of seeking the “baubles” of power.
