You didn’t have to be a radical anti-abortionist to be nauseated by the Project Veritas hidden recordings of Planned Parenthood executives discussing selling “baby parts”. Even if, and that seems increasingly unlikely, Project Veritas “mischaracterised” the recorded conversations by deceptive editing, there’s something deeply unsettling about listening to people dispassionately discussing selling aborted human brains and organs as if they were hawking offal at the meat market. One can imagine such chillingly casual conversations over beer and sausages in the Auschwitz canteen.

As they will, of course, the tribalist left stridently denied anything untoward, and of course the political establishment closed ranks. Hiding behind legalistic obfuscations, inquiries ruled that Planned Parenthood hadn’t “sold tissue for profit”. As if that matters: the fact that they sold them at all, while hawking and haggling like butchers in a Chinese wet-market, surely ought to be enough to turn any decent person’s stomach?

Five years after the initial furore, footage of courtroom testimony from Planned Parenthood officials and partners made even the original Project Veritas videos look tame.

Perhaps the most horrific testimony came from Perrin Larton, the procurement manager of Advanced Bioscience Resources (ABR), which harvests aborted baby body parts at Planned Parenthood facilities in southern California.

In her sworn testimony, Larton admitted that she has seen aborted babies’ hearts “beating independently” after they are born. She also confirmed that some aborted babies’ bodies are fully intact.

Larton explained that most aborted babies come out of the womb in pieces, but sometimes ABR sees fully intact bodies. Asked about those situations, Larton replied, “They just, sometimes they fall out” of the mother when she delivers the baby in the abortion operating room. When questioned about how often that occurs, she replied, “Once every couple months.”

Asked what happens next, Larton said an ABR staffer will “do a dissection” on the intact aborted baby “to get the tissues that the researchers have requested.” When asked if the babies that just “fall out” have a heartbeat, Larton said, “It would depend,” because “I can see hearts that are not in an intact [aborted foetus] that are beating independently.”

Does this strike anyone else as “House of Horrors”-type stuff? Even the worst grotesqueries of Grand Guignol slasher trash can’t hold a candle to the nauseating reality of America’s abortion-industrial complex.

Dr Deborah Nucatola, the former senior director of medical services for Planned Parenthood nationally […] was asked if she had “ever had a patient deliver in the operating room a non-viable fetus”.

The only problem is that “non-viable” appears to be a dangerously rubbery concept for Planned Parenthood.

When asked how to determine if a baby is viable, she responded, “It depends on where you work.” Questioned again, Nucatola said viability partially depends on the baby’s gestational age, weight and health. However, she also included “the availability of interventions” in her criteria.

In other words, babies that would otherwise live are left to die simply because the abortion clinic doesn’t bother to have the medical equipment or staff to care for it and/or transport it to a hospital.

That this indeed happens is confirmed by a third testimony.

Jon Dunn, CEO of Planned Parenthood of Orange & San Bernardino Counties in California […] used to work with the fetal tissue companies DaVinci Biosciences and DV Biologics, which were shut down in 2017 after the Orange County District Attorney accused them of illegally selling aborted baby body parts. The companies agreed to close permanently and pay $8 million in a settlement.

Dunn said he knows of one baby was [sic] born alive at one of his affiliate’s abortion facilities.

“I know they kept it warm and comfortable for the very brief period that it was alive.”

What brought that “very brief period that it was alive” to an end, one shudders to think.
