Just in time for Donald Trump’s announcement of a 2024 presidential run, the FBI has quietly nixed the “insurrection” narrative of the 6 January 2020 riots. That isn’t stopping the Democrats or the legacy media from continuing to flog their debunked narrative as hard as they can.

After all, the facts haven’t stopped them from shrieking their long-debunked “Russian collusion” narrative for all they’re worth.

Anyway, let’s start by defining just what an “insurrection” really is. Words matter, after all. An insurrection, both Oxford and Cambridge agree is, an organised attempt by a group of people to defeat their government and take control of their country, usually by violence.

Note carefully those specific features: organised attempt, group of people, take control of their country.

What has the FBI found?

The FBI has found scant evidence that the Jan 6 attack on the US Capitol was the result of an organized plot to overturn the presidential election result, according to four current and former law enforcement officials.

In fact, not just “scant evidence”, but evidence that explicitly rejects the narrative.

The FBI at this point believes the violence was not centrally coordinated by far-right groups or prominent supporters of then-President Donald Trump […]

“Ninety to ninety five per cent of these are one-off cases,” said a former senior law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation. “Then you have five per cent, maybe, of these militia groups that were more closely organized. But there was no grand scheme with Roger Stone and Alex Jones and all of these people to storm the Capitol and take hostages.”

In other words, what happened was the opposite of what Democrats and their media lickspittles have been endlessly screeching.

Its boring reality was that it was nothing more than a protest which escalated into a minor riot.

Even the supposed grand conspirators of the fracas turned out to be little more than political LARPers.

FBI investigators did find that cells of protesters, including followers of the far-right Oath Keepers and Proud Boys groups, had aimed to break into the Capitol. But they found no evidence that the groups had serious plans about what to do if they made it inside, the sources said.

Of course, the legacy media can’t let their narrative go as easy as that.

Four people died and another died the following day.

Despite the implication that they died in some sort of violence, four of the five deaths were natural causes like heart attacks.

Only one person died of violence: unarmed protester Ashli Babbitt, shot by a Capitol guard. Her killer, Michael Leroy Byrd, whose identity was long suppressed by authorities, has never faced charges. On the contrary, he reaped $164,206 from a GoFundMe campaign – for what, the campaign didn’t specify, apart from “mak[ing] it through this difficult time”.

And now the whole “sedition” and “insurrection” narrative has been busted by even the FBI.

But one source said there has been little, if any, recent discussion by senior justice department officials of filing charges such as “seditious conspiracy” to accuse defendants of trying to overthrow the government. They have also opted not to bring racketeering charges, often used against organized criminal gangs […]

Prosecutors have also not brought any charges alleging that any individual or group played a central role in organizing or leading the riot. Law-enforcement sources told Reuters no such charges appeared to be pending.

So, it was all just another lie.

A lie the legacy media will no doubt keep on repeating, facts be damned.
