Three list MPs have pledged support for a country that doesn’t exist and a diverse group of Arab people descended from a number of different Arab nations who have a made-up name.

I am writing of course about the mythical country/state of Palestine and the diverse group of Arab people who have been given the made up name of Palestinians for political reasons.

At an event to mark International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian people three New Zealand MPs took a pledge to “ […] raise the voices of Palestinian people in New Zealand’s parliament”.

Green list MPs Golriz Ghahraman and Teanau Tuiono, and Labour list MP Ibrahim Omer all took the pledge.

During her speech, Ghahraman revealed her support for the tactics of the BDS Movement which is a well known Economic terror group.

“We do have to divest from investing in the occupied territories. We do have to stop trade with any company – not just Israel – any multinational corporation that’s profiting from the occupation of Palestine.

It is worth noting that the economic terrorism of The BDS Movement has cost hundreds of ” Palestinians” their jobs working for Israeli owned companies. The BDS movement is much more concerned with hurting Israeli companies than they are in actually helping the diverse group of Arab people living in the land they call Palestine.

For Nabil Basherat, a factory manager for the Israeli company SodaStream, the BDS movement caused hundreds of factory workers to be laid off.“The BDS movement has threatened my job security and livelihood,” […] “It damaged the livelihoods of hundreds of SodaStream factory workers, who were laid off as SodaStream left its Mishor Adumim facility in the West Bank.”According to Basherat, the factory closed due to BDS protests in the US and Europe. Workers then had to find new jobs or emigrate.

According to the blog Kia Ora Gaza the three MPs attending the event “have credentials as champions of human rights”. New list MPs Tuiono and Omer are both new MPs and are virtually unknown to the public. Tuiono apparently “has a history of campaigning for indigenous rights and Omer is an Eritrean refugee who spent many years working in UN refugee camps”.

Ghahraman concluded her speech calling for her audience to be on the “right side of history” and with a lie claiming that:

” There are mass crimes being committed in our name if we continue that trade and we, we three, and those who join, will continue to raise the voices of Palestinian people in New Zealand’s parliament with your support.”

Ghahraman and the other two MPs are intending to form a tiny Parliamentary Palestine Friendship Group no doubt with the intention of standing in opposition to the existing  Friends of Israel group.
