The US presidential election couldn’t have come at a better time for the global mainstream media. With a series of horrific Islamic terror attacks suddenly reminding the world that the jihadis had never gone away, the mainstream media desperately needed something to lull the masses back to complacent sleep.
What better to distract the Western world from the continuing, existential threat of global jihad than to shout, “Look! Over there! Bad Orange Man!!”
But at least some of those European nations at the coalface of Islamic violence aren’t being lulled so easily. It’s still too early to be certain whether or not the horrific murder of teacher Samuel Paty was the last straw for France, but Austria is pressing ahead with concrete action against jihadism.
In response to a jihadist terror attack in Vienna last week, the government of Austria will pass a law making it illegal to spread “political Islam” in the country.
The European nation’s capital was shook when a lone gunman killed four people and injured 23 others during a rampage that began in the city’s historic quarter. The culprit, 20-year-old Kujtim Fejzullai, was an ISIS sympathizer.
Not to mention that the attack specifically targeted an area packed with synagogues and Jewish restaurants. Anti-Semitism has become a spreading cancer in Europe again, on the heels of a wave of mass Islamic migration from the Middle-East and Northern Africa.
In response, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz announced new measures that would make preaching “political Islam” a criminal offense.
“In the fight against political Islam we will create a criminal offense called ‘political Islam’ in order to be able to take action against those who are not terrorists themselves, but who create the breeding ground for such.”
The devil being in the details as ever, I’m unsure just how the Austrian government will define “political Islam”. But action against Islamic violence is long overdue in Europe, which has been subjected to twice-monthly attacks or planned attacks for the past year.
Of course, you can be sure that the “progressive” apologists for the world’s most violently regressive religion will, on cue, shriek and gibber about “racism”.
Not to mention the miserable worms of the “human rights” establishment.
Another measure set to be voted on by Parliament next month would see individuals convicted of terror offences kept behind bars for life.
As we previously highlighted, despite facing a worst threat than Austria, the French government hasn’t taken similar measures.
However, President Macron has faced global protests from the Muslim world simply for re-affirming the pre-eminence of free speech and suggesting tighter border controls.
More than 300 years ago, the tide of Islamic aggression that had conquered much of Europe was defeated at the gates of Vienna. Now Europe is reaping the whirlwind of throwing open the gates to Islam in the name of open-borders globalism.
It remains to be seen whether Austria will turn the Islamic tide in Europe again.
