As even Shaun King has noticed, nearly every institution that Black Lives Matter claims is complicit in “institutional racism” and the oppression of black Americans is run by Democrats.
Nowhere is this more true than in the city at the epicentre of the current riots: Minneapolis. Minneapolis is an absolute stronghold of the Democrats. If there’s a problem with the administration of justice in Minnesota, it’s on the Democrats’ heads. Black conservatives accuse the Democrats of race-baiting and whipping up phony claims of racism in order to exploit the black vote. Many commentators have accused former president Obama of deliberately fanning racial division as a political ploy.
The latest developments in the George Floyd case only harden the suspicion that Democrats are deliberately stoking the flames of race in the lead-up to the November polls.
Minnesota authorities on Wednesday escalated the murder charge against former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin and levied charges against the other three officers involved in the arrest and death of George Floyd.
Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison announced the new charges in an afternoon news conference.
“Today, I filed an amended complaint that charges former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin with murder in the second-degree in the death of George Floyd,” he said.
“Second, today, arrest warrants were issued for former Minneapolis police officers J. [Alexander] Kueng, Thomas Lane and Tou Thao,” charging them with aiding and abetting murder in the second-degree, Ellison added.
The news has been greeted with enthusiasm by some – but others have noted that it only makes it more likely that the officers will be acquitted.
In Minnesota, first- and second-degree murder mean prosecutors must be able to prove that Chauvin intended to kill Floyd. Under third-degree murder, the defendant committed the crime against a person they believed to be “eminently dangerous to others and evincing a depraved mind, without regard for human life.”
A second degree charge will almost certainly fail in a courtroom. A lawyer, Ellison must be absolutely aware of this. So, what’s the end-game, here?
Ellison is an Islamic convert who has been tied to several hardline, Hamas-linked organisations, as well as the virulently anti-Semitic Nation of Islam. He also tweeted a photo of himself smiling as he brandished the Antifa Handbook.
If, as seems likely, Chauvin and his fellow officers are acquitted of the upgraded charges, you know exactly what will happen.
Is it too paranoid to think that that’s exactly what the Democrats want?
