In a classic vaudeville routine immortalised by Abbott and Costello in Niagara Falls, a deranged derelict tells the story of how “every time I hear the word Poko Moko, I just want to kill!” The routine runs on the gag of people repeatedly accidentally saying “Poko Moko”, and triggering the derelict’s murderous rage. President Donald Trump may well have learned a thing or two from that old skit: he’s shown himself to be a singular genius at knowing just what to say to trigger the left-media class into a fit of gibbering, incoherent rage.
It’s comedy gold, and no matter how many times they end up looking like deranged fools, the left-media just keep taking the bait.
Trump’s latest bear-poking escapade is when he described Baltimore as “dangerous” and “rodent infested”. The left-media reacted with predictable outrage, screeching “racism!” as they always do. But it turns out that many of their own have been saying exactly the same things for years. As the circus rolls on, more and more rats have come scurrying out of the woodwork – sometimes literally.
During a news segment in Baltimore on Monday responding to President Donald Trump’s tweets characterizing the city as a “disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess,” a rat was seen running through a local reporter’s live shot.
Fox 45 reporter Maxine Streicher spoke to residents of Baltimore’s Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood…Toward the end of the segment, as the camera focused on refuse near an abandoned building, a rat could be seen scurrying away.
Just part of being a “vibrant American city” as Baltimore’s current mayor describes it.
Previous Baltimore mayors have been slightly less enthusiastic.
In a 2018 video, then-Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh echoed many of Trump’s sentiments…“What the hell. We should just take all this shit down,” she can be heard saying of the surrounding slums. “Whoa, you can smell the rats. Whew, Jesus. Oh, my God, you can smell the dead animals.”

But then, Baltimore’s former mayors don’t exactly have a stellar track record. Catherine Pugh resigned after being raided by the FBI over bribery accusations, when she charged the city’s medical system half a million dollars to buy 60 000 copies of her own book – which was, in fact, the only place that bought any. Another former mayor, Sheila Dixon, was convicted of stealing gift cards intended for the poor. Another, Stephanie Rawlings-Blake was forced to step down after her inept – indeed, inflammatory – handling of riots which ended in shootings and a state of emergency being declared.
All were black Democrats, as are the current mayor and current district congressman, which only serves to reinforce Trump’s argument that Baltimore represents a failure of leadership by the left, and a black, Democratic nomenklatura who are exploiting and failing the very people they’re supposed to represent.
Meanwhile, the clown show continues.
Approximately one week before President Donald Trump unleashed a torrent of controversial comments about Baltimore, in which he referred to it as a “very dangerous & filthy place,” the city’s new deputy police commissioner and his wife were robbed at gunpoint.
According to Fox Baltimore, police said two black males exited a white SUV that pulled up alongside deputy commissioner Daniel Murphy and his wife, who were on foot strolling the city on the night of July 19.
The two suspects displayed a firearm and demanded their victims’ property. After taking a purse, wallet, cash and cellphones, the two men, believed to be around 18-years-old, fled.

No doubt the left-media will spin this as a wonderful example of Baltimore’s “vibrant” equality: even a white deputy police commissioner can be mugged in the streets with impunity! How’s that for equality, bigots!
