Born today in 1943, Forrest “Dickey” Betts songwriter, singer and guitarist with The Allman Brothers Band.
Born today in 1944, Rob Tyner (Robert Derminer) singer with MC5.
Born today in 1946, Dennis “Denny” Dias guitarist with Steely Dan.
Born today in 1953, Bruce Kulick songwriter and guitarist with several groups including Kiss.
Today in 1963, The Beatles went to number 1 on the UK singles chart with “I Want To Hold Your Hand”.
Died today in 1985, Ian Stewart pianist and road manager with The Rolling Stones of a heart attack in his doctor’s waiting room aged 47. Aside from The Rolling Stones he also recorded with other acts including Led Zeppelin and George Thorogood.
Died today in 2007, songwriter, singer, guitarist and rock pioneer Ike Turner, aged 76.
