[…] Disappointingly, there are still real issues impacting women’s health that Neve’s birth hasn’t affected. Ardern gave birth in Auckland Women’s Hospital, with an attentive team. Many women still struggle to find a midwife and suitable birthing facilities in a stretched, underfunded and, frankly, increasingly frightening maternity sector. Neonatal death rates for Maori, Pacific and Indian women are much higher than for Pakeha.
