All the socialist writers and commentators I read have a propensity to push the idea that socialism is a democratic system; that’s because socialists herald themselves as ?Democratic Socialists?.
The differences between democracy and socialism are undeniable:
Democracy is government by the people for the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system.
Socialism is an ideology of social organisation that advocates the vesting of the ownership and control of the means of production, distribution of capital, land, etc., exulted to be in the community as a whole but actually all controlled by the State Elite.
To me, democracy means “rule by the people”. In practice, it must be the governance of the citizens by parliamentary representatives who must be held accountable to the voters. The implementation of democracy, which includes the republican type, also requires a clear delineation between ?citizen? and ?non-citizen? when it comes to the legal eligibility to vote.
Historically people who are imprisoned lose all rights of citizenship. Despite this fact, a current ?burning cry? constantly promoted through the MSM, is that everyone should be able to vote. Look however, at who is wanting to give voting rights
In a democracy,
It should be those who have attained a certain maturity and experience by age, and perhaps those who have a personal stake in the wellbeing of the community.
New Zealand is captured within a unicameral MMP parliamentary system, by a coalition of minor parties, selected by a 7% list party, with no constituencies, who are only responsible to themselves and their ability to retain power.
Within the coalition government, we have anarchists who tweet and speak against our western culture and who attack and propagate lies about Europeans that make up the majority of the New Zealand population.
Now we are having our freedoms quashed and the right to read certain documents ?censored? for ?our own good?. The political elite are denying the people of our democratic right to decide for ourselves.
We have a prime minister who makes ?Captains Calls? without parliamentary consultation on major decisions that affect our standard of living, wellbeing and future. She does this without a conversation with the people and their representatives.
This ?government?, without due parliamentary diligence, signed the UN migration pact (which is now deemed to be binding). They did this to be in accord with the United Nations Globalist ideology of open immigration without borders. This is fundamentally conflicts with most Western nations? constitutions and will surely weaken the effectiveness of the Treaty of Waitangi.
The fantasy of borderless political zones that make no distinction between citizens and trespassers may be compatible with socialism, but it is inimical to democracy.
The
ideal of ?democratic socialism? is an oxymoron, as a society which is based on socialism cannot also be democratic, because socialism will not ever guarantee an individual?s freedom.
Since the 2017 election of this government, selected through a flawed MMP electoral system, we do not have a functional representative democracy.
We have one more opportunity in 2020 to cast our vote wisely for a government that extols and practices the virtues of western democracy, freedom and family. If we fail, the result will be as Simon and Garfunkel sang:
God only knows
God makes his plan

Collect our pay
Believe we're gliding down the highway
When in fact we're slip slidin'
away
