The word for today is atavistic

David is a retired surgeon originally from London who came to New Zealand twenty-six years ago having got delayed in Singapore for thirteen years after leaving the UK. He was coerced into studying Latin to O-level (passed - just) and hated it; he now wishes he had paid more attention. He is happily ensconced in rural Rodney surrounded by family, machine tools, golf clubs, marlin lures, commercial-grade zero turn lawn mowers and Jaguars.
