As Neville Chamberlain’s craven attempts to appease Hitler collapsed in the flames of war, Sir Leopold Amery stood up in the Commons and said bluntly what everyone else knew was Chamberlain’s only remaining option:

Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go.

Amery was, in fact, paraphrasing Cromwell’s words from 300 years earlier:

It is not fit that you should sit here any longer. You have sat here too long… In the name of God go.

Both of those blunt statements must surely be slowly dawning on even the dim consciousnesses of Jacinda Ardern’s fellow Labour MPs. Even such low-wattage bulbs must surely have switched on that New Zealanders are shouting it, not just on lawns of Parliament, or on Twitter, where #ResignJacinda has trended on and off for months, but through opinion poll after opinion poll:

Jacinda – just go!

Even the team of $55 million can no longer hold the scales over New Zealanders’ eyes. Temporarily, disastrously, blinded by the fatuous notion that Ardern somehow “saved” New Zealand from Covid, more and more Kiwis are blinking in the harsh daylight of unpalatable truth.

Ardern has been a singular force for destruction: destruction of economy, destruction of democracy and destruction of social cohesiveness.

During her short tenure as Prime Minister, she has single-handedly created a new era of State-sanctioned racism and overseen a relentless campaign to erase or re-write history.

This destruction of New Zealand, which includes its name, has been done to serve Marxist activists who want nothing more than to fuel racial tension and line their pockets with guilt-ridden cash. The rot of these movements has been eating away at every branch of government. Even the water that falls from the heavens has become fodder for her government’s racially motivated agenda via the heavily criticised Three Waters project.

New Zealand became famous in the wider world thanks to a blockbuster trio of fantasy films. But more and more, Kiwis are realising that Ardern is Sauron writ small and nasty: the arrogant, corrupted power, blinded by its desire to dominate and order all things to her twisted vision of utopia.

Whether it was Ardern’s infamous ‘we are your sole source of truth’ speech, or her hypocrisy inviting Americans to fly into New Zealand in a tourist frenzy (what happened to Net Zero?) while taxing the nation’s farmers for ‘emissions’ – everything Labour has touched it has ruined. Scientists are even developing a methane vaccine for cows like some kind of mad, dystopian sci-fi horror.

Come to New Zealand? I’d sooner walk into Mordor.

“Foul in wisdom, cruel in strength, misshaping what [s]he touched, twisting what [s]he ruled… h[er] dominion was torment.” The BFD. Photoshop by Lushington Brady.

Tolkien’s disdain for socialism subtly permeates his vision of evil in The Lord of the Rings. Both Sauron and Saruman are blinded by the same delusions as socialists: they want power to re-order the world and make it a better place – as they see it, anyway. But that desire for power inevitably contains the seeds of tyranny.

It’s no coincidence that Sauron, when he seeks to establish himself as a power in his own right, poses as “Annatar”, the benevolent “Lord of Gifts”.

This is what happens when you put socialists in charge. They smile. They play-act at ‘kindness’. They suffocate democracy with their mothering until there’s nothing left but orders barked from loudspeakers.

This lust for untrammeled power is the key to Ardern’s obsessive drive to trample free speech. In this, like Saruman, she is only aping her more powerful masters.

Governments around the world are terrified that when the people are free to speak, their speech will topple their regimes. To that end, Ardern probably wishes she had the power to ‘curate’ social media and remove #ResignJacinda which has been trending all day.

The jig was well and truly up for Ardern when she smugly crowed on camera about creating a two-tier society. The mask of “kindness” slipped and the leering death’s head underneath was hidden no longer.

Socialism revels in its cruelness when it thinks it acts in ‘the greater good’. It is the trashing of individual liberty and rights – fundamental to the construction of a liberal democracy – in favour of group obedience. Whether it is creating vaccinated groups, racial groups or Net Zero groups, Ardern has carved New Zealand up into subservient and weak tribes.

Socialist regimes are nearly always distinguished by starvation – from the Holodomor, to the Great Leap Forward, to North Korea and Venezuela.

New Zealand is fast joining them.

Despite being one of the richest agricultural nations in the world, the pursuit of the UN’s Net Zero targets has seen taxes, greed tape and social harassment against farmers grow so severe that only the government’s favourite Big Ag companies are predicted to survive.

No doubt, when food prices rise and the shelves go bare, Labour will blame ‘Climate Change’ rather than their incompetency for the food shortages.

In the novel The Lord of the Rings, Saruman’s last gasp at petty dictatorship is to try and turn the Shire into his own little Mordor – complete with starvation. “We grows a lot of food,” says one of the hobbits. “But we don’t rightly know what becomes of it… They do more gathering than sharing, and we never see most of the stuff again.”

The time for New Zealand’s own “Scouring of the Shire” is long past.

And, in the name of God, Jacinda – just go.
