Born today in 1923, Ahmet Ertegun one of the most influential figures in modern music recording and co-founder of Atlantic Records. He signed Led Zeppelin to Atlantic and they would become its biggest selling rock act. The group reformed in 2007 to play a tribute concert after Ahmet’s death.
Born today in 1947, Karl Green bassist with Herman’s Hermits.
Born today in 1953, Hugh McDowell cellist and keyboardist with Electric Light Orchestra.
Today in 1971, James Taylor went to number 1 in the US singles chart with “You’ve Got A Friend”.
Today in 1972, Chicago received a Gold record for their album “Chicago V”.
Today in 1976, Blue Oyster Cult released “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper”.
