Lot 24 R705 sold on Friday for $92,500 – a record-breaking bull price for the South Island.

The sellers, the Giddings family of Meadowslea Farm in Fairlie, began breeding Angus cattle in the 1980s and say their bulls usually sell for around $10,000.

The bull was bought by a breeder in the Wairarapa.
