Overview:

The solution to this whole debacle is simple. Go and talk to the coordinators of the gathering. The politicians, by not doing so at the outset, caused the problems and they are the only ones that can now fix them.

This Government, through its own, incompetence, stupidity, mandates, obsession with control, fixation with fear and dictatorial rule has all but run out of public goodwill. They are showing, as are other political parties, that they cannot read the room. They seem to have trouble connecting with where public opinion is at. The people camped in Parliament Grounds have probably got the support of over three-quarters of the voting population. Maybe they’re the ones who should be running the country?

Who the hell do these overpaid puffed up out of touch politicians think they are? It’s them, not the people on their doorstep, ruining democracy in this country. Democracy, the very thing they were elected to uphold. It is beyond a disgrace.

They have adopted a head in the sand mentality. They are giving all the appearance of acting like petulant children. They look like they belong in the Parliamentary crèche rather than in the House. Their message to the protesters is We won’t talk to you until you do what we say. That has been exactly the problem with this Government from day one and Opposition parties are fools to buy into it. It’s all been about rule by control, rule by fear or rule by threat.

My God these people are slow learners. Maybe the creche IS the place for them. The people they are refusing to engage with are by and large ordinary Kiwis wanting to meet with them. That’s why they went there. Do that and the majority will get into their cars, trucks, utes, camper vans and leave. They’re not staying there because they want to. They’re there because nobody except David Seymour has had the nous, the decency or the ability to display some adult behaviour.

What thanks did he get? A childish telling off from the Prime Minister.

If the politicians won’t talk until the people have obeyed their orders, then they have little idea of the skills involved in negotiating. Reasonable people will not respond to that sort of boorish behaviour. I certainly wouldn’t, I would be standing my ground.

With the amount of support these people patently have around the country, by not talking to them the politicians are, by association, refusing to talk to the majority of their voters. These are their constituents for God’s sake!

The National Party are probably still scratching their noodles wondering why Matt King left. These folk are not, as idiot left-wing journalists like Simon Wilson and David Fisher are trying to portray, a ragtag bunch of far-right fascists. That is Government paid for gutter journalism at its worst.

The solution to this whole debacle is simple. Go and talk to the coordinators of the gathering. The politicians, by not doing so at the outset, caused the problems and they are the only ones that can now fix them.

The politicians have put the Police in a hopelessly compromised position. They can’t move the cars because they can’t get the tow trucks. Not because of threats to the tow companies but because they support the folk there. You might think bringing in the Army is a good idea but it will be a terrible look globally. That really will kill off what little is left of the tourism industry.

My message to the politicians is to go and listen. The Police won’t need the tow trucks and you will stop bleeding the votes I believe you are. The way you are behaving is childish, threatening, and churlish to the majority of the public.

It beggars belief that no one is prepared to take the lead in this. The Government is showing its usual dictatorial behaviour and the Opposition seem happy to simply say they are to blame.

National says they will engage with the representatives of the people when they become peaceful and law-abiding, clear Wellington streets and stop their abusive behaviour.  I take it from that, that these people who have organised a warehouse full of food and drink, toilets and sanitation, started schools and yoga classes amongst other things are in National’s eyes an abusive, riotous, criminal lot.

Words fail me! These are mainly ordinary hard working Kiwis. They could be your voters. Wake up!

One thing I will give National some credit for is pressing the Government for a timeline to end the mandates. Can I recommend to National MPs, in fact, all 120 MPs in the House to go and reacquaint yourselves with the Brothers Grimm fairytale of Rumpelstiltskin? There are some morals in that fairytale you would do well to relearn.

In conclusion, perhaps we all need to play the National Anthem as it seems the bloke mentioned in it is the only one who is likely to defend us.
