Democracy falls when unelected people take power. Who knew that New Zealand would fall as a democracy in such a meek manner, with the people voluntarily handing over power to un-elected health bureaucrats?

It’s like we have never learned from history. Adolf Hitler took power at the ballot box, elected into his position. The German people vowed never to repeat that and devised a system thought to prevent such dictatorships ever happening again, and yet here we are with a dictatorship under exactly the same system.

How else would you describe headlines such as this:

That was an extremely unwise statement of Bloomfield’s. He’s supposed to be working for the people of this country. Freedoms are not his to reduce or take away. I’m actually appalled at his statement and the fact he is so comfortable even uttering it. Do we really want what he is prescribing?

The added restrictions, including masks, wider use of the NZ Covid Tracer app and some sort of vaccination pass to enter certain venues, are needed to secure the country’s elimination status.

Stuff

No one voted for him, nor for the things this government is doing. Yet they are adding more and more compliance, rules, regulations and controls on our society.

As David Farrar points out, these freedoms that Ashley Bloomfield has decreed are a thing of the past are actually rights that he has taken away and appears to be unwilling to give back:

So let’s look at the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. and see how many we have temporarily suspended:

– Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person: Needing permission to leave your home is not liberty

– Everyone has the right to freedom of movement and residence within the borders of each state: No freedom of movement for a third of the country

– Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country: 30,000 or more New Zealanders unable to return

– Men and women of full age, without any limitation due to race, nationality or religion, have the right to marry: Not under Level 4!

– Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion;: Can’t go to church or mosque etc

– Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression: Can’t attend a protest march

– Everyone has the right to freedom of peaceful assembly and association.: Not under Level 3 or 4

– Everyone has the right to work: Not when your employer can’t open or operate

– Everyone has the right to education: Not under Level 3 and 4

– Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community: Not under Level 3 or 4

And Jackboot Jacinda Ardern has stomped on any remaining hope Aucklanders had of enjoying school holidays or indeed ever leaving Auckland. She has declared that, even if they lower the alert level, she is going to stop every Aucklander from freely moving to other areas with the same alert levels and every other Kiwi from freely travelling into Auckland. Who would ever have thought you’d have to show your papers or get permission from an uncaring government to travel outside of or into Auckland?

The BFD. An Aucklander attempting to leave Auckland.

I’ve warned you all where this was heading in two articles, Hope Dies Last: The Politics of Fear, and Freedom Is Never Given; It Is Won. If you haven’t read those you really should. It makes me very angry that people continue to cling to hope that if you just comply you will be able to get out of this situation.

You can’t comply your way out of tyranny.

I am now at the point where I will do whatever I can within my means to bring about an end to this tyranny and this government in particular.

And it isn’t just on this issue; there are many others where they are using their power to ram through further affronts to democracy, like hate speech laws, confiscation of water assets, abrogation of local body democracy, vaccine passports, travel controls, forced medical tests in order to travel outside of Auckland and many others.

They are dividing society as it has never been divided before. They are turning mate against mate, neighbour against neighbour and families against each other. It is sinister and evil, and we must act to bring about an end to it all.

People outside of Auckland, in level two, blithely believe that we are all just sitting at home following the rules. I think even Jacinda Ardern thinks that. But anyone in Auckland will tell you that we have effectively ended level three through willful disobedience. We have had enough of the short and sharp lockdown that turned into the longest lockdown ever. We can no longer sustain not trading and not interacting with others.

Sure, there are still many fearful and brainwashed by daily briefings and millions upon millions of dollars of state propaganda broadcast into every radio and television, quivering in fear of a bug that 99.98% of those who catch it survive. A bug that is so deadly that more may have died from the vaccine than the bug itself in New Zealand. A bug so deadly that most don’t even know that they have it unless they suffer through an invasive test.

What is particularly insidious is the current war the government has pushed, pitting the vaccinated against the un-vaccinated. Never before have we had the suggestion that society would be segregated based on someone’s health status or whether or not they’ve undertaken a medical procedure.

Discrimination. Photoshopped image credit Pixy and Boondecker. Concept credit WH

We aren’t allowed to discriminate on any other sort of basis like race, sex or religion, yet we are seeing people clamouring to prevent the unvaccinated having access to health care, to supermarkets, in fact to anywhere. We are seeing the demonisation of people based on a personal choice. We are seeing corporates vilifying the unvaccinated and forcing staff to undertake experimental medicine in order to retain jobs. All in contravention of our Bill of Rights.

We’ve even seen business leaders like Roger Partridge from the NZ Initiative actually advocating for the amending of the Privacy Act, Human Rights Act and the Bill of Rights Act, along with various components of employment law, in order to allow active discrimination against the unvaccinated. Imagine if they were calling for the ability to discriminate against Maori or Pasifika, or homosexuals, or men who think they are chicks. The howls of derisory anger would be deafening.

We don’t halt medical treatment or welfare benefits for those who commit crimes and injure themselves in the commission of those crimes, nor do we prevent alcoholics and the obese from receiving medical care, nor prevent them from entering premises where they would be furthering their harm like fast food outlets and bars. Yet these thought leaders and business leaders think there is nothing at all wrong with amending the laws to discriminate against unvaccinated people.

These thought and business leaders are acting like they are an enemy of the people, and in many respects they are. The media are no better. They sit there in briefings and helpfully suggest even tougher measures to impose on people like the dutiful propagandists they are.

The media refused to cover the Siouxsie Wiles story, yet have doggedly pursued rule breakers in other instances. Donald Trump once called the media the enemy of the people, and he was right.

The media have rights and freedoms precisely so they can hold the powerful to account. They are called the Fourth Estate for a reason. It refers to the press and news media both in the explicit capacity of advocacy and implicit ability to frame political issues. The derivation of the term fourth estate arises from the traditional European concept of the three estates of the realm: the clergy, the nobility, and the commoners. In modern use, the term is applied to the press, with the earliest use in this sense described by Thomas Carlyle in his book On Heroes and Hero Worship:

“Burke said there were Three Estates in Parliament; but, in the Reporters’ Gallery yonder, there sat a Fourth Estate more important far than they all.”

Except the media have abrogated their responsibilities and have become the mouthpiece of an increasingly draconian government that has funnelled millions of dollars into their pockets.

They are toothless and they are pathetic. They, along with this government need to be destroyed, indeed must be destroyed. They cannot be trusted.

If you think I am sounding angry, it is because I am. Very angry, that this great little country, made famous with the pioneer spirit, and that came of age on blood soaked battlefields fighting for freedom against totalitarian regimes from communists to fascists, have succumbed meekly, without even a fight. It disgusts me. So much so I am actively thinking of leaving you all to it and emigrating to some place that respects freedom and democracy. Anywhere but here.

It is also very tiring fighting this, and very debilitating, but fight we must. I’d rather die on my feet than live on my knees. I’ll say it again, you cannot comply your way out of tyranny.

So what am I doing?

I’m using my voice, and also my actions. I don’t wear masks, and will not do so. I no longer comply with stay at home orders and will not comply. I’ve had enough. Everyone needs to do their bit. Stop quivering in fear, stop tugging your forelocks towards your political masters. Just stop it. Stop complying. Even small acts help because they show others that you are willing to live free. Convert people one at a time.
