Pish Posh
It used to be you can’t complain if you didn’t vote. We have been pushed rapidly into unwelcome and totally uncharted territory where you can no longer complain if you don’t get on your tractor, join a gridlock, sing a waiata at a vaccine clinic, or pack a blanket for a Freedom Picnic.
Whatever form of protest you are into, you need to join the revolution. And bring your whole family with you. Or you run the risk of being one of them. A Karen. Making sure every millimetre of nose is covered by face masks for the Labour Government Face Mask Etiquette Society.
We all need to find our inner hero and be like August Landmesser refusing to do the ‘Sieg Heil’ salute during a Nazi rally on June 13, 1936.
But, I hear you beach loving Kiwis who really need to clean your houses, make your family dinner, buy Christmas presents, Armageddon shop because you aren’t vaccinated and apartheid is starting later this week, not to mention just earn enough to make it all happen… say, why should we bother with all this protest carry on?
Because it is working.
When 15,000 freedom protestors converged on New Zealand’s Parliament grounds on 9 November and were dismissed by Jacinda Ardern and the mainstream media as not representative of the “vast bulk” of Kiwis and the protest itself as “obviously illegal” and “morally wrong” (Jacinda Ardern RNZ) it could have been disappointing. But what followed was an overhaul of the penalties for protesting.
While sounding empathetic – “It is a place where of course people are able to freely protest and we value that about our democracy” – she was planning to stop any more pesky protests.
As quickly as the minions could be summoned the government has upped the penalties for intentional breaches of Covid orders. Now a person who intentionally fails to comply with restrictions could face fines of up to NZ$12,000 (up from $4,000) or six months in prison. Failing to wear a mask where it is mandatory rises from $300 to $4,000. So the Karens are going to be really vigilant and extremely important. It could be tempting to give up. If 15,000 can’t achieve anything then what’s the point?
The point is that while they say protesters are not representative and dismiss them in the mainstream media their actions would suggest otherwise. Cancelling every opportunity to cross paths with protestors at vaccination centres and removing the prime minister’s itinerary from public view would suggest she is rattled and unable to face this new-found unpopularity.
While the mainstream media dismisses protestors as a minority, social media is absolutely exploding with those questioning every decision this struggling government issues and opposing every discriminatory mandate they release into the wild. Respected kiwis Russell Coutts and ZinZan Brooke have thrown their hats in with the revolution and respected Professor of Public Health Grant Schofield has broken ranks to oppose mandatory vaccines.
Voices for Freedom membership is on track to hit 100,000 by the year’s end. The Freedom and Rights Coalition picnics are doubling every month. Groundswell Mother of all Protests organisers acknowledged New Zealand was so saturated in protests that they had to release approved messages to not drown in the competing anger directed at the government.
The pressure is starting to deliver tangible results. In August the Ministry of Health released correspondence to schools which angered many parents by attempting to cut them out of the loop in their children’s vaccine decision. The Ministry of Health initially tried to pass “as a 12 to 15 year-old, your parent or guardian’s permission is not required”.
A Family First pushback campaign reminded them, “The Ministry should be working with parents and persuading them about the importance of any health procedure – not working against them behind their back. It’s the erosion of parental responsibility and authority. It undermines the family dynamic which is essential for young people’s development.”
Family First is leading the charge with victories to celebrate. Their “Don’t Divide Us.nz” petition has 80,000 signatures so far. It opposes the apartheid Labour are trying to impose on us:
“We oppose the ‘no jab no job’ policy, which will create a divided New Zealand. We call on the Government to allow the use of COVID rapid antigen testing as an alternative for unvaccinated kiwis to access workplaces, schools, marae, large gatherings, and places of worship.”
Again without acknowledging the campaign:
- The Traffic Light System has quietly included provision for rapid antigen testing for Aucklanders leaving the border. They can now be either double jabbed or provide a negative covid test.
- Air New Zealand flights accept a Vaccine Passport or a negative Covid test.
- Government has given a $200 million boost for those isolating at home.
- Rapid antigen tests will be available to the general public at pharmacies from 15 December.
Protesting is working. New Zealand needs to keep the pressure building. This could be our only chance to stop the socialist creep into our lives.
