One positive, at least, of the covid pandemic is that it has shown us clearly who are the bootlickers, bullies, and nascent totalitarians. It should surprise no one that some of the loudest slogan-shouters and fist-wavers on the left have turned out to be the worst of the lot.

Especially in the music industry.

For decades, left-wing politics, “rebellion” and “anti-authoritarianism” have been de rigueur in the music industry. Nearly all of them have been brutally exposed by the pandemic as fakes and posers, from Bruce Springsteen to Rage Against The Machine. After all, forcing mask and vaccine mandates on your fans is just “doing what they told you”, eh?

Still, RATM always were a bunch of frauds: middle-class, liberal arts Trustafarians pretending to be rebels by blithering about Marx, while pocketing millions from one of the biggest corporate conglomerates on the face of the planet. As journalist Tim Poole says, when the Offspring sell out so badly, it’s a sadder day.

The Offspring began as a bona fide, independent punk group: now they’ve traded rebellion for retirement income. The band recently sacked drummer Pete Parada for not being vaccinated — despite the fact that Parada was specifically advised by his doctor to avoid the vaccine, due to his affliction with Guillain-Barré syndrome. Parada also has natural immunity to covid, having been previously infected.

But it’s all about obeying the rules and raking in the Benjamins for a corporate money machine who want to come out and play. Singer Dexter Holland whined that having an unvaccinated band member would interfere with their touring schedule (i.e., ability to make money).

Take that, punk rebellion!

As Johnny Rotten has said, “the right wing [have] become the cool ones giving the middle finger to the establishment, and the left wing become the sniveling self-righteous twatty ones”. Now, it’s conservative country singers who are saying, “Fuck you, I won’t do what you tell me” — and sending the covid bullies packing.

Travis Tritt announced recently he will NOT play any venues that are discriminating against his fan’s personal medical decisions. The same goes for venues that mandate fans cover their faces. I doubt you missed it. Tritt trended for two full days over his decision and fear-mongering leftists attacking him for it. But Travis Tritt has a set of balls bigger than the gap between Joe Biden‘s right track/wrong track rating. And now, venues are starting to change THEIR policies to accommodate the artist.

Tritt has just announced dates for an upcoming acoustic tour. One of the venues on the tour roster has vaccine requirements in order to attend shows.

For Travis Tritt, they are making an exception.

“Note that per Artist’s request, Vaccine proof will not be required for these specific shows only.”

Louder With Crowder

If a good ol’ boy country singer, Republican voter and NRA member, can successfully tell venues to take their vaccine mandates and shove ‘em, then why can’t the punks?

Back in the day, “poser” and “fake” were the deadliest insults you could throw at a punk.

Turns out they were accurate, though, in too many cases.
