Dear Prime Minister
I am writing to you to ask for your assistance in answering some questions I have about the current state of our country in the hope that your answers and insights to those questions can be published widely amongst our people to better inform them as to the reasons for our present difficulties. My mum used to help me with my homework and projects like this one, but she is stuck in the UK and currently unable to get a place in MIQ.
I think it is very likely that you and your Ministers have given rise to the major part of the pain and suffering that afflicts many of our people at the moment and that the coronavirus that is blamed for our problems is not as big a deal as it has been held out to be.
You have a reputation of being a great communicator and I have watched you at your lectern in the Beehive. It is true that you appear to be very good at sign language (although I do believe you would be better if you swung from your shoulders a little more) and I would have to say that I have often found your sign language to be more informative than what you actually say.
I do not wish to waste your time as I fully understand that you will be very occupied with the prospect of a Big Reset of our society and that you want to construct better in future as we come out of our present difficulties. I presume you have a working plan to implement as I have noticed a similarity between the actions of you and your government and other governments and states in the world. It appears to me to be substantially the same song sheet worldwide.
I can see that you have a solid grasp of the biology of respiratory virus infection. I was particularly impressed with your disclosure (from your lectern) that the delta variant of the current coronavirus had the ability to seek out and infect humans who had not been injected with the Pfizer product. I was astonished to learn that such a small organism had cognitive powers. You should write it up – it would be a world first!
I have read that respiratory viruses (coronaviruses, rhinoviruses, rsv, influenza, and even measles sometimes) infect humans pretty much the same way. They vary in infectivity (RSV and measles can be more infectious than coronavirus I understand) but, with coronavirus, the first stage of infection over the first two to four days or so, is the attachment of the virus via its surface spike protein to the ACE2 receptor on the surface mucosal epithelium. The virus enters the host cell and replicates within it by capturing the host cell’s synthetic capabilities. At the end of this process, the host cell dies and variable numbers of viable virus particles escape into the lower respiratory tract or the intestine. In the latter, those particles may encounter lymphoid tissue containing lymphoid cells which have been programmed by previous encounters with similar viruses. These are activated by the encounter and travel via the bloodstream to the upper respiratory mucosa where they may be active against the virus in the first few days of the infection, which may resolve it. The patient has a mild illness.
It is during this early stage of infection that multi-agent “therapeutics” are said to work and there is documentary evidence from reputable sources that this is so and that patients are kept out of hospital and death is mostly prevented. The regimes are drugs that have been around for many years, they have a good safety profile and they are cheap. I understand that Merck’s new drug Molnupiravir would be used in this way.
Please explain to me therefore why it is that these therapeutic agents (I am thinking in particular of drugs like hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin and dexamethasone) are not available on prescription to New Zealand citizens through their General Practitioners if they wish that to be so? Properly done it would appear from experience in other countries that patients would be kept out of the hospital and few would die of a coronavirus infection.
Relevant to these early treatment regimes, can you give me an explanation for the recent rapid decline in “case” numbers in Uttar Pradesh and Goa provinces in India (and some other countries)?
The second stage of the coronavirus infection, around day seven or so, involves the dissemination of the intact viral particles via the bloodstream. The virus can also extend to the lining epithelial cells in the peripheral lung. It is during this stage that patients get viral pneumonia and vascular complications consequent on clotting of blood. There is abnormal inappropriate inflammation with the production of cytokines. These patients are in trouble and require specialised hospital care.
What percentage of “cases” in New Zealand has actually required such care in the past months?
Can you confirm that a “case” in New Zealand is a positive PCR test? What does that test actually measure? Why does New Zealand, in using that test, utilise a cycle threshold of 45 when some experts (Fauci for one) say it should be around 25? What percentage of “cases” have appropriate clinical symptoms, mild-moderate or severe?
Can you give me the percentage of people in New Zealand who have died of coronavirus infection in the past few months and the corresponding percentage for those who died with the infection – that is, those patients who died of other things?
You have pushed hard to have New Zealanders injected with the Pfizer product. How can you be so adamant that that product is acceptably safe when it only has emergency use authorisation from Medsafe for use on only part of the population, it has not completed all usual clinical trials, and the manufacturer has been given an indemnity against adverse events from its product?
Furthermore, can you explain why you, or the New Zealand people for that matter, should be enthusiastic about a product the efficacy of which wanes quite considerably over six months or so, and does not protect from infection of the coronavirus? What is the effectiveness of the antibody or antibodies the Pfizer product induces in binding and neutralising the recent coronavirus variants? In other words, can you give me an explanation for the situation in Israel? Are we headed for the situation now evolving in New South Wales and Victoria?
I look forward to your response. I would like that in writing as I may colour it in. The crayons could do with a run.
