Members of a NZ Facebook group were asked several weeks ago to share their Covid-19 experiences.

Most New Zealanders living in New Zealand have not had Covid and do not know anyone who has. Those who have commented with the stories below. *Names have been removed and minor spelling or grammar edits have been made for clarity. Facebook has since taken down the page.

  1. Yes. Nearly 50yrs old. They stayed home. Recovered and are back working.
  2. I know of 3 who have apparently tested positive to Covid. 2 of them, no symptoms other than mild cold like and the 3rd one no symptoms at all.
  3. No one that I personally know of in NZ. I only knew of one guy who worked with a friend’s husband at the dump in Silverdale, Auckland. He tested positive for Covid. Only my family in Fiji caught it. One uncle was against being vaxxd. The majority of the family ended up getting the vax but unsure now if my one uncle who was against it has fallen to peer pressure?? My oldest uncle who did catch it ended up in hospital in Suva but recovered within two weeks. He’s 74 years old. Also he has had a stomach ulcer and other surgeries in the past one was for his heart and after catching the Covid he’s standing strong and healthy today with no additional problems.
  4. My 80 year old Canadian friend caught it in Mexico they found it early, gave her Ivermectin and something else as early treatment and she was fine.
  5. Not here but in the UK yes! My uncle died but had other health issues, my brother was really sick 3 days but felt full well in 3 weeks
  6. A friend of my partners family was one of the first people in NZ to get Covid. From Kaikoura. Apparently he or his family had travelled back from overseas. He almost died, his wife had flu like symptoms, and his daughter tested positive but didn’t have any symptoms at all.
  7. Not one… but I know people not well after jab. Thankfully no one I know has passed but I know it’s just a matter of time ??
  8. YES BUT IN THE UK..Had a moderate flu & loss of smell & taste..In their 30s & got over it in a week..None had the jab & are fine now
  9. No ……but hearsay.. my ex his workmate’s sister got the Vax and that night she wasn’t feeling well went to bed and died in her sleep…..apparently she was young healthy and fit….
  10. My friend in UK (where people don’t seem to really care if someone is vaxxed or not) knows a number of people who had Covid & some had no symptoms, some had loss of taste/smell, some had breathing difficulties for a period of time after, some had long covid and took months off work.
  11. A girl caught Covid and she has her MIQ story on Instagram, I can’t remember her name. She tested positive but her partner who was also in MIQ with her in the same room never caught it and I believe she wasn’t vaccinated either. She seemed pretty positive about the whole experience and nothing too bad to report.
  12. Yes, 6 people in the UK 2 best friends and their family members. All double vaccinated.
  13. Yes, I know around 16 people who caught Covid, mostly as a result of the Bluff wedding cluster…
  14. We had a toolbox meeting after this lockdown with about 20 blokes & were asked if any of them knew of anyone with Covid…Guess what? Not one of them knew anybody out of 20 blokes you would think they knew at least one wouldn’t you?
  15. In U.K. I know nobody who has been seriously sick from Covid. Some tested positive with runny noses and coughs. I know 3 people who have heart problems, suspected myocarditis, since the jab. Another had Bell’s palsy since the jab. Another had a neurological issue and couldn’t use their legs in the short term after the jab. Another is now having sight impaired migraines and shoulder pain since the jab. The latter 2 had AZ and the 3 with heart issues had Pfizer. I don’t know which jab the friend with Bell’s palsy had.
  16. This woman had Covid and recovered but later in hospital giving birth doctors twice insisted she get vaccinated.
