As this progressive government shows it’s really regressive in practice the people line up for the torture test like good little lemmings.
Sir Brian Roche said in a report on covid last year that we needed to speed up the introduction of saliva testing. Today nearly a year after the MOH is only using it sparingly at the border. Why is this government so reluctant to take up ideas from overseas in this covid movable feast? Laziness and disorganization?
Now the inevitable has happened, we are back in lockdown with thousands having to go through the unpleasant nasal swabs. Where is the innovation and adopting the best from overseas?
Ardern puts the onus on us, the (fed up) team of 5 million, but it is her government that has caused our current dilemma with porous border and vaccine ‘stroll out’. We find they are completely unprepared, with testing and vaccination programmes thrown into disarray despite Ashley Bloomfield’s assertion that DHBs had contingencies in place.
I call bulldust on that! DHBs vaccination programmes were not prepared for level 4 as if they were Ardern would not have had to shut them down for 48 hours.
In the six months since the last lockdown, the government has done nothing to refine the system and has lied to us that we wouldn’t have a level 4 lockdown again.
Suggested changes to essential services, so that the butcher, the baker and the fruit shop, could operate like supermarkets, fell on deaf ears. (Like the poor NZ Defence Force Afghan interpreter who wrote to the government in May seeking asylum and was ignored). But I digress…
Sir Brian said in August that we needed a new health unit within government to overcome the ‘clunkiness’ of the current system. He suggested experts, such as in logistics, could be employed to fine-tune our system and ensure our MIQ system is more secure.
Ardern showed her gross stupidity when she said earlier this year there was no hurry for the vaccine roll out as we did not have covid in the community. And now we do. What now oh wise one?
A bit like her vacuous comment “When you see it you know it,” regarding so-called hate speech.
A refusal to have targets shows this government’s intense fear of accountability. Scott Morrison has already given a percentage (around 70%) at which there will be no more lockdowns in Australia; but our stone-age regime still intends to be locking down and gutting our economy at an 80% vaccination rate according to oracles: Stuart Nash, Grant Robertson and Ashley Bloomfield.
The Sydney Morning Herald has highly visible vaccine rollout daily statistics. The Herald lasted with this for about a week. Why has it vanished? Did it get orders from on high to remove it as the slowness of the rollout may make people anxious?
“To whom much is given much is expected’ goes the saying which Ardern seems to have missed as she continues to live in her reactionary bubble having not a proactive thought in her head. Having not had a nasal swab herself (and her DG of Health, weirdly, still unvaccinated until recently) she is unconcerned that it is uncomfortable and anxiety-inducing for thousands of people.
Kind? More likely a cruel and self-serving woman, leading the most dishonest and untransparent government ever.
